When i first found i was pregnant i went to the docs and he prescribed me folic acid with iron. He also said every woman should take them because you lose alot of blood from child birth and the iron helps you to keep your strength up.

Well i went and bought some normal folic acid because i was getting constipation from the tablets.

But when i was 35wks my bloods showed iron deficienty (sp) then at 36wks my iron was fine! then at 37wks they told me to take 3 iron tablets aday! I had my baby the same day as the 38wk blood results and they showed my iron was fine again!!! but while i was on the ward the midwife did give me iron before checking my notes and it did help with the dizzyness and faintness.

Its up to you. If i was you i would take normal vitamins for pregnancy then you know your winning!

Take care

i asked the dr about iron tabs but because my blood is fine they said not to take them as theres no need i did take folic acid up until i was around 18 weeks if you need iron tabs they will normally fill out a for pregaday lovely tabs you take once a day that turn your poo green lol but unless you actually need them i wouldn;t take them just try and up your intake of green veggies and maybe have a steak for tea

Hi Jenny...I have been taking iron from 15wks when I felt faint and my bp was down so the MW said to get a scrip off the doc for them. I have been taking them since. Some days I would forget and then I would notice how tired I do get when I dont take them. Also you will notice if your poo is very light in colour then your lacking iron! Sorry tmi!lol

I took pregaday (Iron + Folic acid mixed) for about two months. You supposed to take them for the first trimester so personally i would take them. Even tho your blood is fine your baby will need as much nutrients as possible so its best to just take them for first three months.
But hunny.. Go with your insticts. After all its your body and your baby xxx
