this is my 3rd pregnancy and both times before, they were engaged as early as 34 weeks, but sadly i went 12 day over due with both of them!! baby can be engaged one minute and come back out again?! but will stay engaged for they rest of the pregnancy til yr due date.

hi ladies,

i had my 34 week check with the midwife today and she says i'm 3/5 engaged! so how long after being 3/5 engaged did it take for all you ladies who've had their bundles of joy to go into labour?

just curious i suppose?

I was 4/5ths engaged from 34wks. Then on the day i was in labour (38wks) i had a midwife appointment. So i hung on and she checked me and i was 3/5ths engaged and i have my little one later that day.

My mate on the other hand was fully engaged for the last few weeks and she went 12days over.

thanks for the replies... knew it sounded too good to be true! hehe! although my baby girl has gastroschisis so she'll be born early anyhow! just gotta wait to see how long they'll let me go! next scan is wednesday!

Just got bk from my midwife appointment, my baby is now 3/5 engaged!I thought so as my bump seems to have dropped a bit and i have a little gap to breathe now! lol!Its also really uncomfortable 'down below'lol

3/5ths engaged at 34 weeks and i thought OMG he's going to come so early but in the end he was only 4 days early.
they say its unlikely hey'l change position too once that engaged but mine did! xx

hi laura.

everyone is different.......i had a midwife appointment on the monday, baby barely had head in pelvis at all and i went into labour at 4am on the friday morning, which was my due date. he didnt engage fully until i was in established labour - and im sure that even then it was only cos i was bouncing up and down on my tip toes as this seemed to help!! i did have a birthing ball at home which i used to love, altho im not sure it did much good in my case!!
