I'm 13+2 and felt exactly the same til I had my scan, 16 weeks is quite late for your first but know it's different depending on your area, doesn't seem fair to me. Do you have another m/w appt coming up before your scan? They should be able to hear the heartbeat now so I'd definitely ask her to try if you have. My symptoms eased off around 8-9 weeks too so don't think you have anything to worry about but can totally understand how you feel, doesn't seem real til you've seen or heard it for yourself. Might be worth trying to get an earlier m/w appt if it's still a while til your next one just to put your mind at rest or have a look on ebay, you can usually pick dopplers up for about £20. Hope you manage to get something sorted, take care and keep in touch.

Lotsa love,
Clare xxx

I'm sure everything is fine and dandy!

I know what you mean though - I am 11 weeks today and have been lucky enough to have 2 early scans so far due to history of m/c. Despite this, and perhaps because in the early scans the baby does not look at all like a baby, I am finding it very difficult to accept that this pregnancy is real.

I have 12 week scan booked next week. They had arranged it for 16 weeks but I kicked off and demanded an earlier one! I hope after that one when the baby looks like a little person (fingers crossed)that I can actually begin to enjoy it.

I would speak to your mw and ask about listening to the heartbeat

Take care

"Early scan?"

Hey Debs...dif parts of the county do the 1st scan at dif times...mine wasnt due until 16wks either. But at my MW booking in appointment at 11wks I asked for an early scan as I was worried that there was nothing there and that I needed a medical professional to say to me "YES you are pregnant"! So I know how you feel. I did get my early scan 4days later after some pleading with the MW... and there babs was heart beating strongly! I was speechless with happiness!

Good luck! Sharon 23+1wk bump xx

"Scan"

Hi Debs,
I think that if I was you I'd go to my GP and tell them your symptoms!! 16 weeks is late for a first scan, there usually at 12 weeks!!!! I'd go to my GP and try and get a scan ASAP to check everything's OK for your own piece of mind!!!
I know that you can get an early preg scan the following day, but I don't know about 13 weeks!!!
I hope that this helps, and that your GP listens and gets you booked in for a scan!!!
Take care of yourself,
Janice,
xxx.
