"Maternity clothes"
Posted by milmolmai 6 May  at  21:50

i'm 20 weeks tomorrow and already struggling to get my usual clothes to fit, so needless to say need to go shoppin for some new things especially with summer not far away.
as i'm sure you can all appreciate money can be a bit tight even more so when needin to buy all baby's things aswell which i'd much rather do but can't go around either naked(eek)or wearing the same thing every day.
anyway enough of the waffle, anyone know of anywhere to get cheap maternity clothes(can't justify spendin loads cos i'll only grow out of it within a few weeks probably). i've been on e bay but you can't always guarantee winning the items.
any suggestions welcome (especially from those struggling to get in their clothes to!!!!)

can also recommend DP's for cheap maternity jeans & tops, check when the sales are on cos they reduce things down to £2 and 3 pounds.
my mum got me some great bargains from her local charity shop [both maternity & regular clothes in a bigger size] for like 50p / £1 an item and they were hardly worn and have been a godsend.
i also managed to get some brilliant pieces in the mama's & papa's sale, generally their clothes are pretty exspensive but they reduce things up to 75% and i got some gorgeous tailored trousers for £8 reduced from about £50 which have seen me right through till now.
see if theres a local NCT sale near you as they often have maternitywear.

happy shopping,

I found H&M and Dorothy Perkins good for trousers, definitely worth investing in really comfy ones. For tops I just got cheap stuff from Primark - it's not proper maternity wear but they had a selection of empire line (I think they're called, the ones which are gathered under the bust and then loose over the belly) tops. Altogether it cost about £20 for a selection and I'm pretty certain they'll see me through.

Havent heard from you in ages. Im 20 weeks tomorrow and ive had to get some new clothes, i can squash into my own ones but the maternity ones just fit better. I got lovely jeans in M&S for 30 really confortable, got a few tops in dorety perkins and in mothercare believe it or not. I didnt spend much on them. not much point really. Oh and i got nice black linen trousers in New look the other day, most of the shops have nice stuff.

How have u been anyway, ive another scan in 2 weeks, the first went fine and im starting to feel movement for the last few weeks. Not much just little twinges. Ive been getting heartburn and stiches when i walk for the last few days. keep me posted

Hey Laura

I would defo go to H&M. I went last week and brought 4 tops for £47 which should last me for work. I also went to M&S and brought next size up tops. I think DP's are good for trousers and next. I've borrowed my sister in law's ones from Next and fit perfect Good luck!

I got some great Maternity jeans from H&M, I liked them so much I got 3 pairs, I was massive, my bump was measuring 44cm or something at full term, and those jeans did me from about 20 weeks until then! I can't remember what they cost, but for a nice fit and something so flattering and comfortable I thought they were worth it. They were over the bump which I preferred as oposed to under the bump, but that is personal preference and they stocked both styles.
I do feel for you being pregnant throughout summer!
For tops I went to either H&M or DP, I thought Mothercares range was rubbish!
Good luck shopping.
