Hi ladies

My OH and I have already had sex and everything was great. My midwife discharged me yesterday but said that although breastfeeding commonly reduces th risk of getting pregnant or stops it altogether we should be using something anyways?! I was also told we were safe until 3wks by health visitor so now I'm confused? Anyone help?

Zoe and Ellie 19days old

xx

You are right that you cannot get pregnant in the first 3 weeks but after that you cannot rely on breastfeeding to stop you falling pregnant, everyone is different but I have fully breastfed all my kids and with the last 3 AF has been back within 8 weeks. If AF isn't back that is a sign that you are protected but i'm not convinced it is very reliable as you never know when you might ovulate.

Hi Zoe...not sure on the contraceptive part...but your health visitor should be the one to know.
