Hi all

finally after going over 11 days I had my baby boy on Monday at 12.53pm and hes 7 pound five and perfect.

The labour was awful as i was induced so was soo quick at only 4 hours. I asked for pain relief but they didnt think that after 2 hours i should have any as had a long way to go, but no one checked me and within an hour and half I was pushing him out, then it was too late for pain relief, so i only had gas and air.

unfortunately the quickness caused 3rd degree tears in 3 places so i was in theatre 2 hours after and now on bed rest on about 8 lots of medication and very sore below. He also didnt breath the first minute and 6 doctors out of nowhere appeared but he had a heart beat so he got breathing quickly, they said he was shocked to come out sooo quickly, very scary.

im trying to feed but having trouble but we are deff improving, anyone else take a few days to feed well??

my oh been wonderful as i was numb from the waist down the last 24 hours!! I can see why some people go for a c-section!!

Anyway, I will keep popping on here, and im sure i will need advice soon!!
good luck to all you future mums, they are worth it.

love Tracey and Thomas just over 48 hours old
xx

try lavender oil in your bath that really helps. i had a 'graze' (ha) with ben and apparently that is worse than stitches as the area is bigger!! but it does get better i promise.

a massive congratualtion on the birth of your son, i would deffo advise keeping trying with the breast feeding, i didnt and i regret it now although i did feel like crap when i was breastfeeding. ben isn't particularly settled on formula and i sometimes wonder how he would have been on the breast. at the end of the day though, dont let it stress you out as it will only make it hare and if you cant do it then get him on the bottle, it is gtreat to let the other half do the night ... while you catch up on sleep. i alwas think it would be loads better if you could bottle feed them for 2 days after birth, get loads of rest then breast feed (unfortunately it doesnt work like that!)

good luck

tina & ben (7 weeks and 2 days old)

Congratulations on the birth of baby Thomas. Love the name but I would do as my youngest is also called Thomas.

Sorry to hear that you had a bit of a rough time, especially what with the 3rd degree tears. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Take care

heya Tracey!

So happy he finally arrived, you were due same day as me! God you really went through it hun, I didnt have 3rd degree tears but i was cut from front to back and trust me it does get better, starting to feel normal again now! Try teatree oil in your bath, just a few drops and also try arnica tablets, ask a pharmacist, really really good, I definetly think they helped! just keep them stitches clean.

Yea I had a really hard time feeding with breast. I did it for 10 days but I have to admit she just wasnt latching on and I was so so sore and bleeding and engorgement, it was stressing me and inturn her out. So I gave in and put her on forumla. Now 3 days later my milk is nearly drying up and I feel so much more energetic and dad can help out a lot more now and I just feel so much more useful to her. Just dont feel guilty if you can't do it. But I really wish I could have continued, breast is best for them

Keep in contact, I'll offer as much advice as I can.

Sounds like a pretty scary start but well done for managing it! I haven't been there yet but a lot of people have told me the feeding gets better after the first few days (as milk supplies get more in tune with baby). Hope things improve and you recover soon!
