cant imagine what you must be feeling right now and that ... of a boss well id tell her to f##k off (sorry) but your boss cannot make you take early maternity leave. if she wants you gone it can quite easily be arranged, all she has to do is suspend you from work on FULL pay!!!! otherwise she cannot legally do anything
take care emma+30wk pink bump

I got told i was a 1 in 37 chance of having a downs baby, i had the amneosentesis and i was fine.
After it all my midwife told me that they hate the thought of people having the blood tests because they dont even know how they come out with the results!
I took nearly 2 weeks off from work, from finding out to getting my results.
Your work cant make you take maternity early, stand up to them.

Just wanted to wish you the very best of luck for next wed and the CVS test! You are going through a worrying time of it and it isnt helping that boss of yours adding more pressure onto you. Its just not fair. I would do as one of the other girls suggested look up the gov website on maternity rites...link... http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/Moneyandworken-titlements/Parentalleaveandpay/DG_10029290 just so you have all the correct info at hand for yourself and you know your own rights.
tc and best of luck! Sharon 23+4wk pink bump xxx

I hope everything goes well with the test.
You can't start maternity leave until you're 28 weeks or thereabouts so your boss needs to think again. Until that point if they think you shouldn't be at work they put you on maternity suspension - this doesn't effect your mat leave entitlement (you can still take the full year afterwards) and is on full pay. After 28 weeks you can choose to start your mat leave but you can't be forced into it even if you're off sick until you're around 36 weeks.
Even some HR departments seem to be a little vague on the law so do a bit of internet research and have the exact dates and all the information with you - don't rely on them to get it right.
The last thing you need when you've got stress over the baby is your work adding to it so try not to let your boss get to you. She is totally wrong as well as horrendously insensitive at a difficult time.
Best of luck xxx

Hope test goes well, as it did for your friend. As for your boss, hope she gets what's coming to her. Does she want you to take your mat leave just now and be due back when your baby is 3 days old? You work as long as you can and keep your leave to spend with precious baby.

Hi Good luck for your test on Weds. I'm sure all will be fine. About your boss. Its against the law for her to bully and harrass you about being pregnant. Does your company have complaints procedure. I would go higher and get someone to put her straight. She can't dictate to you when you go on maternity leave. Do you have a union where you work. Ours is PCS. They should be able to advise you. Hope all works out ok for you and don't let the b******s get you down! Sarah
