HI ladies
my wee man is 4 weeks old...i'm breast feeding and looking for a bit of advice regarding nighttime outines
At the moment he has his last feed from me between 8and 9pm then he has some expressed milk from his dad between 11pm and 12am. He wakes around 3 but doesnt feed for long....then he doesnt seem to properly settle again. He fusses around 4/430am, then again 5/530 and by that time I've been awake since 3am and end up having to get up!

I'd really appreciate a bit of advice as to how to get into a better routine..Is he still too young to expect much more at this stage? I feel like everyone else's babies have much better sleeping patterns. The HV suggested dropping the 11/12 feed as sometimes he is a bit sleepy during it but I'm worried he'll just end up waking earlier than 3am and i'll be up for more of the night!

I am also breastfeeding my little man and he was 6 months old yesterday!!

You could try letting him wake up for his expressed feed on his own and then feeding him when he wakes after that? If you think that he doesn't need the 3am feed you could try him with a dummy instead if you're using them, he could just be waking for comfort and not settling back in his cot because he's not with you.

Kieran has been sleeping through the night for a few months now. He was in a routine of waking at around 2.30-3am and feeding for about 10 minutes or so and then not settling back in his cot,he would only go back to sleep in our bed snuggled up to me, so I tried the dummy and it worked a treat.

I worry about Kieran not having a set routine. He stays downstairs with us until we go to bed, usually 10.30ish, and has his last feed from me at this time, even if he only fed an hour before. But, as soon as we turn the lights down and get into our room he knows it's bed time and almost always falls asleep on his own in his cot - without his dummy most of the time. He seems fine and is such a happy little boy. Everyone comments about how laid back he is, so it's not doing him any harm.

wen he wakes at three do u bottle or breastfeed cos if hes not getting much from the breast express an extra bottle for the three feed and he may settle a bit better hope he settles soon take care leanne

doing as HV suggests and skipping the 11 pm. When baby wakes could your man get up and give the expressed milk then in a dark quiet room? Then you could take over at the next wake up time. You might be able to cope better as this may buy you some extra sleep time and OH would still be doing his bit
