You're supposed to be so organised that you'll have enough milk expressed to cover you till the alcohol has left your system, which it does at a rate of 1 unit per 1 hour. 2 weeks ago my friend had her first night out since having a baby in January. She came home drunk and her man said that baby hadn't taken any of the milk as it was from a bottle so she had to bfeed him immediately. She said there was no difference in the baby and he was no more tired than normal. Sometimes, you don't know what to think.
Dunno bout the stout thing, sounds like the old wives tales like rubbing butter on a babies nose for a cold??!!
Maybe you should drink some stout then let us know

I am breastfeeding my little boy still - he's 6 months, and I have the odd drink. I don't get drunk or anything and I used to have the odd drink while I was pregnant - It has never had any affect on Kieran so far. Not heard about the stout boosting milk production though, sorry.

So I'm sure if you had the odd tipple it wouldn't do any harm!

I didnt breastfeed. But what i can remeber from reading up about it is...
If you decide to have one drink its fine but more than one then you need to express some for baby and then the next day express some but throw it away.
Also the alcohol can make the baby really sleepy.

I think other ladies on here can help you more as i never breastfed.

Hope this helps tho.
Take care
