| Thread started by: | "Advice needed on early induction." Posted by katie2601 12 May at 18:58
Hey ladies, I cant quite get my head around this so bare with me!!!
I was born with a probelm with my kidneys and my right one isnt functioning properly and over the last few days has got alot worse, basically its not going to get better during the rest of the pregnancy and could possibly get quite bad. I am in alot of pain with it and am being sick and off my food.
I just got back from my appointment with the obstetrician and they offered to induce me!!!! eeeeeeeeeeekkkk! Basically its the only option to relieve my symptoms.
I am going back this Wednesday to check on things again and if i agree, book the induction.
I have soooooo many things going round in my head and am in total shock really!
I was hoping for a really natural birth but that wont happen now! also i dont want to start something thats not ready and cause the baby to become distressed, or even end up having a c-section.
Has anyone had to be induced early and if so how did it go?
Thanks

i was induced on my first baby and everything was fine they just gave me some gel an away we went, i really wouldnt worry hun you need to ask yourself are prepared to go another few weeks feeling this ill??
it must be best for both of you as they wouldnt suggest an induction an babs will be just fine as ya nearly full term now, your prob more worried because its coming round quicker than you prepared hehe.

just want to say i was induced at 38wks because i asked i was having twins and was huge i did have a emerg section but that was because my first boy was stuck his head was tilted to the side but the labour was quick they do say it can take a while but i started having pains just after 12 and by 430 i was fully dilated so it can go both ways but if ur worried about babys size then ask them to scan u to see babys weight my twins were 702 and 614 so quite big for twins and two wks early good luck with wot u decide leanne

The one with overdue baby was fine. The one with underdue baby wasn't great, wasn't awful but seemed to need more persuasion than the overdue one. The prostaglandin they use can put you in a limbo labour state where you have pain but labour doesn't progress. It's not nice but if you are in pain and unwell I reckon it will be worth it. The other thing to remember is Emergency C's and baby's becoming distressed can happen with any labour. If it's going to relieve your symptoms and make you better it'll be worth it. Good luck to you

i have been induced but that was an overdue date induction im begging for an induction early but they are dragging their feet, induction really isnt bad i had a nice birth with mine and also a baby is classed as full term at 37 weeks probably just be slightly smaller than if you left it until the full 40 weeks, personally if the pregnancy is causing you so much pain i would seriously consider it if theres no problems with bubs, good luck whatever you decide! xxx
