It has felt like forever to get to today and it looks like I may have even longer to wait, I know I am being impatient but I just cant take it anymore especially now its so hot, the swelling in my hands and feet is getting worse and to top it all off my hayfever has now started, great!!

Anyway, I am going to the hospital on friday for a menbrame sweep but I was wondering whether anyone else has had this and what it is actually like, does it hurt and most of it all what are the chances of it starting labour off?

Thanks

Becca and big 40 week bump!

xx

Sorry to hear that your LO doesnt want to make an appearance!! I never reached my due date but i can kind of understand how your feeling.

I had a sweep. I was already in early labour having contractions every 10mins lasting 15secs. I had a sweep at the hospital (cos i got pre eclampsia) and immediatly they went every few mins lasting 30secs. I had my little girl a few hours later.

I have my birth story on my blog on my profile if you would like a read.

My mate on the other hand had a few sweeps and was in labour for 3days and went 12days over. So everyones different.

Good luck

at 41 weeks with daughter no 2 and it didn;t work for me BUT no one told me its best to be a bit active after having it done i basically sat down and waited for things to happen plus my daughter was rather huge and mums carrying bigger babies apparently have a harder time having a ntural labour * i never heard of this before* i wouldnt say it was painful but its very uncomfotable i ended up having to be induced a week after my sweep, then again my sister had a sweep 10 days over with her daughter and she went straight into labour, i do hope it goes well for you good luck xx
