| Thread started by: | "More time off work during ep??" Posted by jbeaumont1 14 May at 11:23
Hi girls, I know that this sounds very silly, but I woundered what others would do in my situation!!! At 5 weeks, I started light bleeding, so I was signed off work for 2 weeks, and went for a scan at 6 weeks. The doc then signed me off untill I am 8 weeks (due back on Monday), but my OH wants me to have more time off!!! I have had pains etc the last couple of days, and perm. feel like c**p!!!! In the past we have had 2 MC's, and 1 ectopic!!! I work as a year 1 teacher, and spend they days running round after 25 children, leaning over very small chairs, etc. I don't get to sit down till I get home about 6pm (so I'm working from 7.30-6)!!! My hubby says I should remain at home resting, but I feel that I'm being a fraud, as most other pregnant women are working, and I also feel guilt leaving my class to supply teachers!!! What would you do in my situation??? Janice xxx.

I agree with the other girls and having time off until you are sure things are OK is not selfish but just putting your baby first. i am in similar position and just got my bfp last week so am 4+4 today, having had 2 previous m/c's and a stressful job i am being rether selfish this time, we have to be, good luck hon and hope things go ok for you, xxrachxx

Hi Janice I would talk to your doc see what they say about pains etc, dont push yourself or do too much too soon. You have had some bad expieances and although there is no causes of MC if i was in your shoes I would be taking it easy untill I felt happy and confident that all was well. As for work, plenty of preg women work and plenty dont its not something to feel guilty about its obvious you would be at work if you could. your not slacking or giving excuses it docs orders. Maybe you could ask work about getting extra help for you ( light duties type thing) I sure they would get an extra assistant if you broke a leg or something and you do have a genuine reason so why not ask for same to help you in preg. Good luck with your preg Love Donna mum to luke4,Ben2 and 28weeks preg X

Hi Janice...I can appreciate that you feel guilty leaving your class..but you have to put you and the baby 1st. I feel guilty when I have to take a sicky..but the time I had the bleed at 12wks I left work early and went home to my bed. What if you gave yourself another 2wks off...even go and speak to your GP and see what s/he has to say. By 10wks you might be feeling better in yourself and have more energy. You will be back working time enough!

I can totally understand how you must feel, you have a responsible job and it's obviously important to you but I can see your hubby's point of view too. After all you've been through I have to say I think this pregnancy is more important than any job, easy for me to say as I'm not working at the mo but my last job contributed to 2 m/c's and in the end I had to decide what was more important. It sounds like your job is very demanding and if you're not feeling 100% I think it's perfectly justified that you put your pregnancy first and stay off til you're sure everything is ok with the baby. Just my opinion and I probably am biased by my own experiences but I don't see that you have anything to feel guilty about by putting yourself and the baby first in this situation. Wishing you a happy, healthy pregnancy,
lotsa love, Clare 14+3 xxx
