hi, Emilie is 5 months old now (23 weeks), i am still breastfeeding but nowhere near as much now, usually 4 times in 24 hours because she's weening and im trying to get her used to bottles before my return to work. i presumed my periods would return when she started feeding less but apart from a few period type cramps i've got no sign of it. i just wondered for those of you with babies and breastfeeding when did your periods return? hope you're all well, lynni x

I got my first period 5 weeks after giving birth despite exclusively breastfeeding. My health visitor told me that if you have more than a 6 hour break from feeding your periods can return.

I exclusively breastfed Kieran until he was 25 and a half weeks old (a few days short of 6 months) and I got my first real period the day before he had his first solid meal. Strange.
Hope you're enjoying motherhood.
