"Low platelet levels"

Girls

I'm hoping someone could put my mind at rest. I had my 28wk blood test and had a letter back from the hospital to say my platelet level was low and to come back for a repeat blood test in four weeks. Googled it and worked myself up into a panic as some websites say it can cause my blood not to clot and if I end up having a caesarian, I'll have to have a general aneasthetic! Also, I won't be able to have an epidural. Looking thru my notes, my level was low at my booking appt blood test. I'm not anaemic and I feel great. All's fine with the bump though (thankfully), just don't want to think of anything going wrong in labour due to low platelets. Has this happened to anyone else out there?

Misschiefy (and girly bump) 31wks tomorrow x

Good to hear someone else has been through the same thing. I will see my GP on Friday for my 31wk check up so will get my levels then. Will certainly ask what they consider to be low, normal range if 150-450 so 80 is half the bottom scale of normal level! That's brilliant - thanks again! Misschiefy and Elise bump xx
