Hey ladies,
I have been trying to get my OH to read my pregnancy books etc so he has an idea of what to expect etc and the only one he has had his nose in is called "Blokes Guide To Pregnancy" by Jon Smith.
Anyway, I was getting a bit annoyed as I thought it was all "tongue in cheek" stuff in there and he wasn't taking it seriously. I grabbed the book and had a look at some of the paragraphs and there is one in there that has never been mentioned in ANY of my books...........by the way when I read it out to my OH, he said he hadn't got that far in the book yet, I said "not to worry, I would read this part out to him every night until labour as it is clearly the most important part of the book!!"
Page 188 WHERE's THE PRESENT? This was my one big mistake. I didn't get into trouble for it but I was the only bloke on the ward (world) not to give his partner a present after the birth! Was this a commonly held custom like presents at Christmas or wedding rings that I didn't know about? We both heard squeals of delight as "eternity rings" were unwrapped, huge bouquets of flowers were fixed in vases and cheques with promises of post-natal shopping trips were revealed............
and it goes on. I thought it was excellent and should ensure he at least turns up with a bunch of flowers. My mom said it's only fair that I should get something as the moms always get forgotten about when the little one comes along.
Anyway, I will let you know if I get my platinum blue diamond inscribed ring with my OH, Baby & my initials on the inside with the date of birth...........but I'd be just as happy with some flowers from the garage!!

a white gold charm bracelet with 4 charms on. One for each child. OH gave me it just before Charlie was born last July. There was a gap as if for a 5 th charm, which I questioned at the time lol, but one of our first trips with new baby is to the jeweller and I have to pick the 5th charm myself to represent Francis. The others are a gun, football boot and boxing glove. As they were boys he chose boys toys. Charlie hadn't been born so he is a wee unisex dummy and when I get to know baby more I'll decide what to get for his charm.
I have also asked him to pay for 2 little stars to put on to represent the lost babies as well.
And no, he's not perfect. I had to point out a few months before Charlie was born that they're supposed to buy us gifts to celebrate and commemerate the birth of their children. He done well tho.
