Hi just wondering if anyone can help but my mind at rest.
I went for my booking in appointment 2 weeks ago and midwife did bloods etc and urine but she sent it off rather than testing there and then which i thought was odd as when i was preg with my daughter they used to dip it while you were there. Anyway i got home this aft to my post in which were my results, it came back that i have a uti and if i haven't been contacted by gp (which i hadn't) then i should make an appointment.
I called them and explained and doc called me back, she said as i haven't got any signs of infection i should go in and have another sample taken next week but as soon as i said i had a m/c at new year she put me straight on anti biotics and should go back week after next.
What im now panicing about is can a uti in early preg cause m/c?
Sorry for long post

they found i had a uti at my booking in appt, i too didnt really have any symptoms i went straight to my docs and they put me on antibiotics. if i were you i would contact the doctors again and ask for a course of antibotics. it can be dangerous to your kidneys or something. Hope this helps babe xx K x 22+4

I had the same thing. At sixteen weeks I had a scan and had to give a urine sample at the hospital. Seven, yes SEVEN weeks passed and then out of the blue I got a letter to say that i needed to contact my GP to get a prescription. No explanation or nothing. Well you can imagine my panic. Anyway, turns out the sample I gave weeks before showed I had a UTI even though I was showing NO symptoms whatsoever. Doctor prescribed some antibiotics which I was dubious about taking especially as seven weeks had gone by so I insisted on another test. The infection was still there (even though still not causing me any trouble)so I did take a course of Amoxcillin. I did some research first and double checked with GP and they are perfectly safe to take in pregnancy. A week later and all fine! Apparently, when you're pregnant your tracts "loosen" up which makes you more prone to infection. Drinking loads of water and cranberry juice should help flush things out though. I hope this puts your mind at rest, but if not just keep quizzing you GP and Midwife until you are happy with the answers.
Silver (have pregnancy brain so keep forgetting how many weeks and days at the moment!)
