| Thread started by: | "Anxious, should i ask for a scan asap? " Posted by leaf76 18 July at 21:29
Hi all I've got myself all anxious about my pregnancy. I have alreayd posted about this, sorry to be back again! but I don't feel pregnant.
I don't do myself any favours by researching on the internet the things that could be wrong, like a blighted ovum, a sac but no baby. I know some people go through a healthy pregnancy without feeling pregnant, maybe thats me, but I did start off with sickness, constipation etc and because they've gone away (been gone more than a week now) I'm getting worried. My 1st scan is in 2 weeks, do you think I should demand one sooner just based on the fact that I've worked myself up into this state of mind? is it a reasonable reason to have a scan now?
I'm 9wks+1, haven't had any bleeding....
thanks Lea xx

Hi my love, Blimey - you give me a run for my money in the worry department hun!!!! we're cycle buddies, birthday (ish) buddies and worry buddies!!
I would just reiterate what I said the other day about this being the point where you feel abandoned and time goes really slowly, and also don't forget the bit about the symptoms can lessen as your body gets used to things.
2 weeks isn't long really (although for you it will feel a lifetime), you could try and get one as when I went to see MW early on she booked me an early scan as I was so panicky, but I think some of her agreeing might have been linked to previous miscarriage. I also wonder if they'd struggle to find you an appointment any sooner than that unless you were having any sort of emergency issues, which leads nicely onto -you've got no signs of anything going wrong so try to relax, thats a really big bonus. (having said that - by 9 weeks I'd had a few episodes of bleeding and still everything is fine for me).
I've had myself in tears before researching things on the internet (I researched weak cervix when I went into the second trimester which is the most awful thing to try and self educate about so don't go anywhere near that!!!) so I'm really trying to stay away from Google etc now!!
From what I can gather - even with things like blighted ovums, people can continue to feel pregnant anyway, so I really think you might just be one of the lucky ones hun, I hope you're OK, try not to stress too much xxxxxxx

i told my husband even when it was really obvious i was pregnant, and i did a test to confirm, i just didnt feel pregnant at all. The sicky feeling only kicked in around about 7-8 weeks and its here with a vengeance now! and its only about now my boobs have gotten really heavy. I did get an early scan as id had an EP and a m/c and i had some spotting bleeding so i got one at 9 weeks and everything was fine. The stress is the worse, i had to wait about 5 days between going to drs and getting scan and that was bad enough. You can research too much cant you read all the stats and convince yourself everything is going to happen. I hope the time speeds by, and if anything does happen then you should go straight to hospital and they cant refuse to see you. Good luck!

if your hosp is anything like mine you wont get a sooner app!lol
to be honest i think everyone feels like you to begin with-and they cant book everyone in sooner. especially if youve had no bleeding etc..
ive had one MC at 11 weeks then a set of twins-my hosp booked me in no sooner even though i was in a right state fearing the worst or that it could be another set of twins.
i had a scan but as im irregular and the last 'proper' period i had was april(followed by very ight bleed in may) they assumed i was near 12 weeks and booked me in....as it turned out i was only 7+3 weeks.
i have had no sickness at all since i found out and all was healthy at my scan, ive had no soreness of boobs etc so try not to worry too much some people just dont get symptoms that are really strong.
you could always ring and see if they have a space but i wouldnt count on it.
good luck rachx 8+5 weeks

Thanks for the info. I know everyone would probably like a scan sooner, and you're right, I haven't had any blood, so this is all just my own assumptions at the mo.
Going to wait til Monday and call the gynaecologist to see if there's a chance of seeing her sooner. Hopefully I'll be lucky, but I know before when I was TTC and wanted a general check up with the gynae the appointments were made for 1 month later, so she must be busy!
I don't feel any different this morning either, in fact most of the pregnancy I have been waking up feeling the need to eat straight away and thats gone now too.
Wish me luck, I hope I've just misdiagnosed myself!!
and thanks again for the help
Lea xx
