hey there ladies, i haven't been on here for a while but i have a concern so i thought of no better place than here!
Scarlett is 4 months old now and she doesn't really seem to be gaining much weight, she has dropped 2 lines on her centile chart and is now on the 0.04th line (the bottom one), apart from slow to gain weight she is perfectly healthy, she doesn't look skinny, she has chubby arms and legs, she cries for her feeds and feeds little and often, the HV suggested that maybe she goes on a high calorie diet, i'm totally against this as i want her to develop and grow in her own time.
has anyone else had a little petite baby that has gone off the chart??
Thanks ladies
Donna and Scarlett (4 months old) xxxxxx

Are you breastfeeding? Sometimes with breastfed babies the charts are not so accurate as they are intended for bottle fed babies. Check out the World Health Organisation's growth chart for breastfed girls..... http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns/growth/chart3-.html
My Jessica is quite little too, she's exclusively breastfed still and is on the 9th centile line. She'll be 5 months on 28th July.
I hope the link is useful!

Hi trace,
Thanks or the reply, Scarlett is on formula milk, she only really takes about 4oz each feed but feeds about 7 times a day, she wasn't small at birth 7lb2oz and now she only weighs 10lb 13oz....bless her, i just think she is a diddy one. i wonder what would happen if next time i take her to be weighed she actually goes off the bottom line?

are you going to start weaning her? Maybe when she's getting some solid foods too her weight will pick up. I would tend not to worry, like you say she's probably just going to be dinky! HV's tend to make mountains out of molehills in my experience. Leave it at least 4 weeks before you get her weighed again to give her a chance to gain a bit!
