"Heartbeat/scan question??"
Posted by rach17842 24 July  at  17:30

well i had a scan a few weeks back and i thought i was a lot further on than i was. thought i was at least 9 and i was 7+3 weeks.

anyway i have had a MC at 11 weeks approx 4yrs ago and i just wondered if the chance of MC lowers if you have a healthy looking scan with a heartbeat?

obviously im still conserned that i could still MC now..just wanted to know if anyone knew anything about this?

thanks
rachx

My MW told me that every 4 weeks you have a slightly less chance of MC.
Unfortunally, I had a missed MC at about 12 weeks, after 2 EPU scans, both showing the heart beat, so I'm still dubious about whether this would put you in the clear!!!
I couldn't trust that my baby was alive until the 12 week scan (had one at 6 weeks just to check with this pregnancy), and I am now saying that I won't believe that everything is OK until the 20 week scan ... there are tons of people who really should be told but haven't, 'just in case'!!!
I hope that everything goes well for you!!!

but someone on another board told me their midwife said after 9 weeks chance of miscarriage reduces slightly, but like i say thats like 3rd hand so i dont know. Me too i miscarried at 7 weeks and this time had a scan where i was slightly ahead of where i thought and all was fine at 9 weeks. They didnt say anything at the hospital that m/c might reduce after that time, so im still going to be superly cautious and worried until 14 weeks, just to give me that 2 week cushion!
