"Nap time"
Posted by rachaelbigbaby 28 August  at  16:05

I now put Eleanor in her cot for day time naps, which after a bit of her getting used to is going well.

How often is normal for them to nap in the day time?

She went to bed at 7pm last night, woke up at 7am this morning, we had a bottle, play time, breakfast, more play and then an about 9.30am she seemed tired, so took her to her cot and she slept for about an hour.
She then had another bottle, played on her own for sometime, had some lunch and went back to sleep at 12.30pm. She's still asleep now. Thats 2 1/2hrs just for afternoon nap.
That is her routine every day, pretty much, although if we're out she just drifts off in her pram when ever.

Is this too much sleep? What about other babies coming up to 6 months?

he has always gone into his cot for naps and used to have 2-3 hours on a morning (no more than2 hours after he woke up) then the same in the afternoon thn bed by 7.30pm.

HOWEVER, i can only assume he is teething as he had 1 hour in total yesterday then fell asleep on his bedtime bottle then 1 hour in total today and was asleep by 6pm! he is wakingup screaming which is unlike him as he normally just talks to his dreamshow when he wakes so i think it is his teeth. he is a miserable little so & so too!

woke up really screaming a few times in the middle of a night last week, so out of the ordinary, I ended up giving her a bottle, but on Friday, two bottom teeth appeared, so I think the teething definatly does inturrupt their sleeping a little!

I'm sure it's not too much. Charlie has just woke up from a nap he had at 2pm!!! Now that is too long - 3 hours as he's 14 months now but I was so drained from fighting with OH that I let him sleep and I had a doze on the couch too. Ooh, so self indulgent lol.

You're doing a good thing by putting her in the cot tho instead of just laying her wherever cos this is supposed to help with them not waking in the night to share your bed.

Eleanor is very similar to Olivia. Livvy goes to bed around 7.30pm till 7am on a weekdays she wakes up with the OH, at weekends shes up about 9-10am.
Then has a bottle, breakfast & play. Has a morning nap about 9.30/10ish while 11.30/12ish. Dinner, playtime & most of the time has a nap about 1.30ish for a hour. She doesnt always have this nap tho. If she doesnt then shes in bed a little earlier.

Think its all normal. They are getting very active now.

i am glad you brought this up as i have been wondering the same thing about oliver.

he sleeps from when i put him down at night (6pm) til 7am when rob gets up for work. he gets up, has a bottle, plays and then by 8am is tired. he goes back to bed for anywhere between 1 and 2.5 hours and then gets up again. after his lunch about midday and then his mid afternoon bottle at about 2pm, he then sleeps for another hour.

i guess he is getting more active now and so tires himself out, so im not worrying about it. he is the same as eleanor when we are out and out with the pram, he goes off to sleep in there too.
