| Thread started by: | "28 wks and need c section advice" Posted by bringmesunshine 6 March at 13:57
Hi
I am now 28 weeks pregnant and am having a little girl. I have been told by obstetrician that I will be having elective c section at 38 weeks due to health complications (mine not hers!!!).
Just have a few questions..................
What will I feel like the same day? How will I feel after that? Will I be able to carry my babe upstairs when I get home? How will breastfeeding be possible if im in the house on my own when partner at work? Any other advice?
Thanks

Hello, hope I can be of some assistance. I have two children who are 5 yrs. and 3 yrs. and am 5 weeks pregnant with our 3rd (and last)! Anyway, I have had two c-sections and will plan for one this time as well. I had some health issues during my first pregnancy (pre-eclampsia) and chose to have a c-section a few weeks early. I'll answer your questions as they relate to me, of course everyone is different...the same day you'll have some pain, you'll need pain relief that day and the day after for sure. Once you get past the initial day or so you'll feel much better, a little pain, but not unbearable. I carried my babies upstairs as soon as I got home, just take it slow and don't to it a million times a day at first. Try to plan to have a travel yard and some changes of clothes and of course diapers downstairs to keep your trips to a minimum at first. I don't see why breastfeeding will be a problem. I breastfed my second for 3 months while my husband was at work and had my son who was 2 at the time at home to care for as well. I wouldn't go into it with too much anxiety, I'll be 37 when I have my third and I'm not worrying about the surgery at all. Yes it's major surgery, not to be taken lightly but I never found the surgery and recovering the surgery as a real problem. I pretty much went home and back to my normal routine as far as taking care of children, house, etc. Just know your limits and take it slow. I wish you the best!! : )
