hi i had one because of 3 prev mcs and i found it fab used it right up till the end and totally enjoyed laying on the bed in the evening in the quiet just listening to babs heartbeat pounding away i will say make sure you dont freak yourself out if you dont find it make sure you are atleast 16wks altho it can be heard sooner than this. tc shell&carys xx

got a doppler like you she has had several mc's and thankfully 2 healthy pregnancies too...she is now refusing to go near her doppler as she said it is actually making her more paranoid, she advised me against it and she said she would advise anyone against getting them as they are more trouble than they are worth.
it was nice to be able to hear the heartbeat whenever she wanted but not to the point where she got stressed about it.

I know some people have found them very reassuring but like Leitia said they can make you more paranoid. I ordered one and when it arrived it was faulty, tried it out as soon as it arrived and by the time hubby got home I was in a right state cos couldn't find a heartbeat. Fortunately I have a friend who's a midwife and we ended up taking it round to hers, such a relief when she said it was the doppler that was faulty. If it hadn't been for her I'd have had to go to the hospital cos I wouldn't have been able to stop worrying. Use with caution I would say, you need to be really level-headed, specially to start with if the heartbeat's hard to find. The other thing I would say is, although you have to wait a little longer for it, feeling the baby move is a million times more reassuring than hearing the heartbeat. If I'm remotely worried now I sit down with a drink and wait for the acrobatics to start!
Lotsa love, Clare 30+6 xxx
