| Thread started by: | "Belly button pierced????" Posted by sam280597 21 September at 16:33
I have had my belly button pierced for about 6 years now. do i take it out, buy a maternity bar or leave it in as it is??
no one has given me any advice on this yet, and i forgot to ask the midwife, was going to ask her when i go back but its another 6 weeks yet and my belly button has started to pop out recently??
help please!
i don't mind taking it out just don't want to end up with an ugly scan if no need (i know i should have thought about this before - typical)
thanx xx

A flexi-bar for pregnancy off eBay for £1.99, it is basically longer and made of this flexible plastic stuff. I haven't started wearing it though but I don't think it will be long because my belly button is starting to pop out...

Ive had mine in now for just over 6yrs and Ive still got it in. Ive been to see about having it changed for a pregnancy one but still havent got around to it. Im carrying quite small so far so it hasnt been a problem but Im booked in for a c-section in 4wks time and Im not sure whether I will have to have it out. I think that if it does become uncomfortable then you should really take it out. It can easily be put back in.

I took mine out at around 25 weeks because I didn't like the way it stuck out through my clothes - it looked like an 'outy' belly button!
I haven't put anything else in it, but then every few days I put it in and straight back out again before I go to bed just to keep the hole open, and so far it seems to be working. My plan is to keep it open then put it back in after baby is born.
I've heard lots of people talk about those maternity bars you can buy but for me it feels so much more comfortable out and doesn't seem to be closing up so I won't bother with them. (plus - my belly button is totally flat now so I think an 'outy' is on the cards!!).
