I craved pineapple EVERYTHING, juice, chunks from tin, fresh pineapple and ate it til it came out of my ears and it didnt effect my pregnancy?
Did your MW explain why?

I thought this sounded a bit way out but MW told me not to eat Pineapple? This is causing a few probs at the mo because Pineapple is about on of the only things my body is agreeing on....
Any thoughts on this one?
Thanks Savannah

with this pregnancy and i have to admit it was sooooooooo hard i love pineapple and they have big huge fat ones here and they smell soooo good. I mean i dont know for sure and i dont want to freak anyone out but i ate a tonne of it last time i was pregnant and i had a m/c im not saying it was the pineapple but i did research afterwards and i found it was one of those things supposed to bring on labour and all as liz put there, so i just thought im not risking it this time around. So i really didnt eat any in the first 12 weeks, had a few slices after that and havent had any since and im 20+5. I mean who knows i could have eaten no pineapple and still m/c but me personally i just thought no point risking it.

that yes it did say that fresh pineapple, and that canned and pineapple juice were pretty much safe and even some i read said biggest risk was unripened which i guess i mightve eaten here as theyre fresh off the trees kind of thing, but i imagine as they get to UK theyre pretty well ripe.

pineapple is one of the things that is supposed to bring labour on...
I found this... http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/labourandbirth/planningyourbabysbirth/naturalbringonlabour/ "Eating pineapple
Pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain which is thought to help to soften the cervix and so bring on labour.
Is it safe? There is very little available research. Each pineapple contains only very small amounts of bromelain so you would need to eat as many as seven to have any effect. The most likely side-effect of eating large amounts of pineapple would be a severe case of the runs.
Does it work? There is some debate about the role played by bromelain on prostaglandins, which soften the cervix to prepare it for labour. Some studies actually suggest that bromelain inhibits prostaglandin activity while others think the opposite. Regardless of this, eating large quantities of pineapple is likely to stimulate the gut and bowel and, as with castor oil, could kick-start the uterus into action by that means.
How do I try it? The pineapple must be fresh: bromelain is destroyed by the process of canning or juicing. "
Though i know a few of the ladies who post/posted on here have eaten pineapple throughout and often it's mentioned as one of the things they have tried and failed to bring labour on with... so... guess it must be different for everyone
