Hiya,
I have had 2 different types of pelvic pain. The first was on both sides but sharper on one than the other. It was kinda a bit in from my hip bones on both sides. I went and spoke to obstetrician |(who I was seeing anyway). He said its "round" ligament pain caused by the enlarging of your womb and the pulling of the ligaments that are joined to the top of it. It was really sharp almost tearful pains that came and went depending what position I was in. It is perfectly natural and normal and eases up as the weeks go by.
The other kind of pelvic pain was really low under my bump and in the middle and it felt like a tight band just above the pubic bone. It was made worse by walking, exercising and better for resting. This was diagnosed as symphasis pubis dysfunction. Sounds awful but is the softening of a ligament that holds your hips together. Hence anything where you had to "open your legs" e.g breast stroke swimming, yoga, sitting cross legged etc made it worse. Apparently its all due to a pregnancy hormone called "relaxin" and goes away after baby comes. I was given a support band from a phsio but I know alot of women who wear them anyway to support growing bump. You can get them in mothercare etc.
Hope this helps. Remember both these pains were really quite strong. If its just aches then i think we all get them as the bump grows. I hope it all works out good for you
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy

Hi I am now just over 13 weeks and have been getting pelvic pain from about 7 weeks. Am told by numerous sources that this is normal so try not to worry - easier said than done I know! I just think there is so much going on in there that we are bound to get the odd pain and cramp.
