"10+4 & spotting again"

Hello

I am currently 10+4 and since I came home from work on Friday evening, I have been have a really uncomfortable stomach ache. Its not like a period cramp in my lower abdomen, but just underneath my belly button.

This morning I also noticed slight spotting which has carried on throughout the day. I had my dating scan early at 7 weeks due to cramping and bleeding, and the doctor told me then that there was a threat of miscarriage.

Until now all has been going well. My tummy is growing (however even though Im only 10 weeks I look alot more which has had me worrying slightly) and my boobs are still so sore, even to look at!

I plan on calling the midwife tomorrow, but I dont want to be fobbed off and be told to rest. I have been resting all weekend and have just started a new job from which I cant really afford to take time off.

Do you think she will arrange an ultrasound scan for me or am I better off arranging one privately? I have been told Im not due another scan until week 20, but I just wondered with the trouble I had early on that the she may arrange for me to be seen again.

I really want the best care for my baby, I just dont want to be messed around and have my time wasted if they wont plan on doing anything about it.

Has anybody been in a similar situation? Any advice would be great! Many thanks

Rachel xx

i can understand your worries. if you are worried enough, then do not be fobbed off!! at the end of the day, this is YOUR baby, not the midwifes. they may be able to detect the heart beat with the thingy(sorry can't remember the name)that they put on your tummy in the surgery. i am not entirely sure if you are too early though. this would put your mind at rest a little if it is possible. it is also your prerogative to insist on a scan too though. express your worries, and do not come away until you are satisfied you are reassured.
i also understand that you are anxious about your new job, but at the end of the day, i am sure that your boss will be understanding. if he/she, is unaware of your situation, then a little white lie may be needed to get you off work for the day. but you have to weigh up what is most important to you.

i hope i have been of some help, and try to stay positive. good luck, let me know how you go sweetheart.
