Hi, i am 27 weeks and still lie on my front, and people tell me i am pretty big at 27 weeks. Sometimes it makes my tummy ache but so does lieing on my side. Just love cuddling my pillow so it helps me sleep on my belly. Also i was advised later on in pregnancy you should not lie flat on your back but i dont know what all that is about? Must remeber ask that one when i next see my midwife

Whole thread for the following message:

Hi, i'm six weeks pregnant with my 1st. I always sleep on my front but am slightly worried that this will be dangerous for th baby. does anyone know if it is? I realise that when i get bigger I wnt be able to sleep on my front and am tgring to train myself to sleep on my side or back, but should I be too worried about it at the moment?

I am 30weeks and couldn't even think of lying on my front now... you shoudl idealy lie on ur left hand side as all your organs get squashed to that side and it makes the baby lie in rite way for delivery...

The reason why you shouldn't lie on ur back once ur in the second trimester as it squashes the atarey's and can stop the rite amoutn of oxygen getting to the baby xxx

I read on a pregnancy website that sleeping on your back while pregnant puts the weight of your growing uterus on veins that supply the flow of blood to your baby....

i slept on my front on all mine. it is my way of protecting the baby. on the second one i was rushed to hospital and the midwife had to wake me for a blood test, when i woke up she was laughing because i laid on my front. i was told it is safe if you lay more on the left side than the front as you get bigger that is. i would not sleep on your back as you can break your back when your bigger. it is good that you are starting to worry. im only 6 weeks gone and im already worrying about the birth and it is my forth.
im worried cos i have big babies. reece (my first) was 8lb8 on time, tyler was 9lb4 and a week late, bailey was 10lb and 3 weeks early. i have been told that this one could be about 13lb. take care. x

Hiya!
I had similar worries but was reassured that it's OK really. I am now 17 weeks and still find myself sleeping on my front sometimes but kinda propping myself up a bit with my arms and pillows. I think left side is the ideal position to sleep in though as its helps the blood flow to your uterus. I am such a fidget in bed though that I probably get through every position possible before morning!!!xx
"Thank you!"
