I've been a smoker for about 15 years and when i found out i was pregnant i managed to quit on the spot and haven't had a ciggie in 4 1/2 months, i just kept thinking about my baby and the adverts you see about baby's smoking on telly, if i did ever fancy one i would just rub my tummy and it reminds me why i gave up in the first place. Try talking to the midwife and just start cutting down - good luck xx

Hi.
I'm having my first baby too who is also a girl. I am due on 24th Aug.
I have been smoking for about 5 years as well and finding it really hard not to smoke.
I have been prescribed nicotine replacement therapy, its helped a bit but not a lot.
I read in a book that its best not to smoke but if you can cut down it would be even better.
You shouldn't beat yourself up about it. Even though you do smoke you have to remember that there are mothers out there who abandon their kids and harm them abusively. You are not a bad mum and if you are putting every effort into it then fair play to you.
Try to do a daily plan. Work out when you most crave a ciggie and try to avoid those situations. Stay in touch & good Luck. xx
