"Doppler machines."
Posted by becky290 19 April  at  13:41

Hello all,

I was wondering if anybody had bought a doppler machine as I was thinking about buying one.

Did you think they were worth the money and were the easy to find the heartbeat with?

I'm worried about not being able to hear the heartbeat beause i'm using it wrong and then worrying myself more!

Thanks, Becky. 14+4 : )

"Doppler scanners"

A Doppler ultrasound scan can detect nitrogen bubbles in your blood. Nitrogen bubbles cause oxidation, a form of poisoning than can lead to obesity and many other health related problems.

Hi i am 27 weeks pregnant and brought my doppler machine when i was 20 weeks gone, i did not really find the heart beat till recently but when my baby is not active for a day or two i will use it has 9 out of ten times the baby will kick at it, dont think baby likes it to be honest. Thats all the reassurance i need!
Although at times i get worried i have not yet gone to see my midwife or to the hospital but the longest i have gone is 4 days and felt nothing, baby made up for it afterwards.

I would say buy the machine if its what you want and its great becuase partners can get involved but you may be like me and need to be further on to hear the heart beat.

Hi Becky.
The midwife couldn't find my babys heartbeat at my 14/15 week check up, she told me not to worry as it may just be too early, but i couldn't help but worry, so i ordered a doppler and personally for me i'm glad i did. The one i have is from 12 weeks and my partner found the heartbeat straight away with it....what a relief!

yes, they can make you worry more.

i never had one, but my brother got his fiance one a year ago when they were expecting their first.

it ended up in them being up at hospitals, and on the phone to midwifes continually. if she used it and couldn't find the fhb, she'd panic.

i was at their house once. and she was trying to find the hb, when she couldn't, she was running round the living room in hysterics. all i could do was sit with my jaw open.

i mean to say! what good was this doing the poor baby?? i told her to sit down and relax.

so, if you are a panicker, then i would leave it. it can cause distress to you,a and your baby if you don't know how to work it.

good luck
