Sperm test

me and partner been trying for year now. my periods are very irregular. had various blood tests which show am in good reproductive health. phoned gp today who wants my partner to take sperm test. just wandering how long this will take for results. gp said following this test i will be refered to gynea as it looks like i am not ovulating on regular basis. what treatment is given to aid ovulation? all my friends have had babies. we the odd ones out. is anyone going through similar thing. me and partner are 23 just hope it will be our time soon x

Sperm test

Hi Rach, When my husband went for his sperm tests, not very long ago, it was all very supperfast. His results came through within a week. Have you tryed ovulation tests to see how often do you ovulate. They are very acurate. I thik it is good to have all this data before you visit your gynea.
Cheer up, we are them special flowers who might flover a bit too late, but will be the most beautiful and most pressious ones. x

Sperm test & non ovulation

I was also not ovulating (I only realised this as my periods also stopped, so I went to get that checked out). I was diagnosed with PCOS and told that even though i had (long cycle) periods my whole life, I probably always ovulated irregulatly if at all.

They re-started my periods with something, then I started in a very low dose of clomid, gradually increasing the dose until they could confirm i was ovulating each month (the periods re-established themselves once "kick started" so).

Hubby was also sperm tested - took a week or 2 for results. The only special thing about the sperm test is the sample needs to be 'fresh' when they test it, so they can go 'produce' the sample at the lab (which my husband was not interested in doing!) or you they give you a vial to have it 'produced' at home, and then you need to get it to the lab premises within 2 hours.

After all that I am now 8 month pregnant with a baby girl. This took quite some time, but a few months after confirmed ovulation and lots of sex during, before and after my most fertile time it worked! Took about 2 years from diagnosis to confirmed pregnancy. But couldn't have done it without the gynae.

Don't worry about what your friends are doing - your time will come!
