Vasectomy reversal

hi there, i am new to this so hello!
was wondering if anyone has had success with vasectomy reversal?
i got married on the 1st february and my husband who is 33 already had 2children from a previous relationship.
however, i am only 21 and obviously want children of my own.
i stopped taking the pill about two weeks ago and things seem to be going ok with me.
however, i have found out from the nurse today theat our local nhs does not do rversals and we will have to go private.
i just want to know if we are going to be wasting our time?
i keep getting quite upset about it and paranoid that if we do have a baby he wont love it because ha already has two!
help, im just feeling so confused and depressed.
thankyou x

Go for it!

Hi! I'm new to this too having read the posts from other members for ages! My H2B has 2 children from his first marriage (15 & 17) who his ex-W has TOTALLY poisoned against him. He doesn't see them at the moment which is so sad! We have been together for nearly 3 years and discussed children really early on. We had our VR 6 weeks ago tomorrow at a private hospital in West Sussex. We are about to put some effort into a pot to see if it worked!!! Fingers crossed! His reversal was about 7 years ago and the consultant gave us a 70% chance of success. At the follow up appointment he told us that he thought technically it had gone very well so here's hoping. We want to get pregnant next year!!!!
Anyone thinking of doing it should!

It worked!!!!

We got a phone call at the weekend to confirm that the result is good!!!! Just waiting to receive the written count which should come tomorrow! To say we're excited and over the moon would be an understatement! If you're thinking about doing it, then go for it! I hope reading a positive story will encourage others! x

Wow

Thats really good news,Congratulations. How long ago did he have the original vasectomy?x

We're booked in, yippeeeeeeeeeee

My partner is 47,he had a vascectomy about 10 years ago. We went to see a consultant Mr Miller in Surrey, and was given a 50/50 chance, we had already decided to go for it even if it was only a 10% chance,we have now booked the reversal for 20th October 09, I am so nervous. My partner is so confident and if it was'nt for him I would be falling to bits, The more I read the more doubts I have until I found this site which has given me more confidence. I will keep you updated.Good luck to all thats going for it.x

How did the vr go?

Hi we are going for a consultation this week about having the vr , I just wondered how you got on? How was the op?

Hello

The op went really well, Although my partner was very sore for about 2 weeks after. At the time of the op the consultant said it all went well and managed to re-connect the tubes no problem, He also said that whilst he was doing the op he could see sperm which he said was a brilliant sign, My partner has a follow up next week to see him again but I dont think this is the time where he'll have to do a sperm test for a count, I think thats next time. Anyway we started to try about two weeks after the op as I had my period that same week of the op, i am due to have a period this weekend (fingers crossed I won't) although we would be too lucky for that to happen, we live in hope. Good luck with it, I know how stressfull it is but it will be worth it in the end, Keep us informed.x

Next week..............

Hi, my partner is also 47! and also had a vascectomy 10 yrs ago, we are booked in to see the consultant at the spires hospital in leicester next thursday! i wish i knew how to feel, i want it so bad and am scared to tell anyone close to us incase it does not work or they will not do it! good luck by he way

Thank you and good luck

Thank you. Good luck, I hope everything goes well for you too. I have'nt told anyone either, I think thats the best way. I only want to tell people that i'm pregant. we only have just over one week til the op so will keep you informed.x

Vasectomey reversal was done today!

Hello, My partner has his reversal today By a Mr Miller, the op went well, Mr Miller managed to get the tubes back together and he also said that he could see sperm which he said is a very good sign, Just hope they are live. My partner is very sore but is over the moon that it is now done. I am so pleased with the result today and can't wait to start trying now.xx

Good luck!!!!!

That's such good news! My partner was my rock too! I was definitely more nervous than him but he was in very good hands! At least you don't have long to wait, it'll come around so quickly! It's the weeks between the op and the test that seem to take forever! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! x

Thank you

Thank you, I will let you know how we get on, Only 9 days now.x

Anxious about chances!

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this but have been really encouraged reading some of your stories. My boyfriend is booked in for a VR in 3 weeks time and I'm almost too scared to hope that it will be successful. He's 42 and has 2 (now adult) children from a previous relationship. He had his vasectomy 15 years ago so I know the chances of success are far from great. The consultant we spoke to said there was only about a 25% chance but we're determined to try everything we can and this is the first step.

I was wondering - has anyone else been in a simliar position with such a long gap between vasectomy and reversal and how have you got on? I would feel tons better about the whole thing if I knew that it had actually worked for people after this amount of time. I'm trying to be realistic and not get my hopes up - part of me is hugely excited and another part is totally pessimistic. I don't know what to think! I would really appreciate hearing from others who are/have been in the same boat.

All the very best of luck to everyone trying! xxx

Thanks!

Hi! Thanks for your message. He had his vasectomy about 7-8 years ago! We're so excited! x

Any ideas on sperm count...?

Hi...we got our result through yesterday with 34 million per millilitre...is this any good? He seemed to think it was!!!!

Just need to write something

hi i.m in desperate situation i.m 38 and my partner is 40 he has two children and i have one.. but i would so love another child but the problem is after his last child was born he decided to have a vascectomy,, he did say he would go though with a reversal but now has changed his mind... i am so deperate for another child that i am getting very depressed and withdrawn in myself,,, i just need to see if anyone else out theer was in a similar siutation and may be able to help with a few words of wisdom.. thank you for reading and good luck to all

I know how you feel

Hi, I know how you are feeling, my partner was due to see the consultont and the night before told me he could not do it, blaming his age! he is 46 and I am 32!!!!. I was gutted ( did not help that all my friends were due babies.)

That was a year ago, since then he has noticed how much it was hurting me and we are now going to try again... I hope.

I hope things work out for you.. good luck...

Hi scarlett469

Hi scarlett,

Did your partner give you a reason for changing his mind? Im sure if you let him know how badly this is affecting you he would soon change it back again! you cant live the rest of your life like this, avoiding baby sections in stores and feeling like sh*t everytime you hear of someone else expecting. I know it can be really hard to talk about something so important and means so much... have a few drinks together and tell him how you really feel.

Lots of love and luck

Vasectomy reversal

Hello
I am new to this board and reading your message has really encouraged me. My boyfriend is over 50!!!! Had his vasectomy over 12 years ago and we have been told we have less than 30% chance of conceiving. My darling boyfriend is going in next week to have a reversal and (gulp!) I am really excited, nervous etc.... We both had a really difficult start to this year because I wanted children and he has already got children from his previous relationship; However, he made the choice to have the reversal and gave our relationship a second chance. I am so relieved and love him to bits for doing this because I feel that its worth that chance. The same goes for you too, if you really want this then you are definitely not wasting your time. My boyfriend and I talked quite a lot about my needs and how my emotions were- I felt terribly depressed last year and nearly walked away after being together for 8 years!!! Good luck (maybe you already know by now what your decision has been) He will love your new baby as much as he loves you if you go through with this so keep strong and have faith.... Wish us luck for next week gulp!

How'd it go?????

Hi Luckyj2009, Just read your post, how did it all go. I am in the same situation and am so nervous about it, i keep reading the chances of it working and i must say its made me feel quite sick. Just wondered how you both got on.x
