"Successful stories????" Posted by neen86 9 September at 14:28
My fiance is having the reversal in about 4 weeks and the closer it gets the more doubtful I am getting! I can't talk to him about it properly as he is so positive, but I don't know if thats because he knows i'm having doubts! I think we have a good chance as he had the vasectomy about 3 1/2 years ago and he is 34 and I am 22. So really we stand a good chance! It would just be really good to hear some similar success stories!! xx

"Reversal" Posted by ossy12 13 September at 12:26
Hi
I am new to this site so please bare with me....
My husband had a vasectomy reversal 4 years ago, but unfortunately it was unsuccessful. This was devastating as you can imagine, yet it wasn't going to put us off. Two years ago we started searching for other reversal specialists and eventually found one that we were happy with. We had the consultation in July 07 and last week my husband underwent he's second reversal. The surgeon told us that one side had been badly damaged and had quite a bit of scarring on it so he couldn't really do much to "re-knit" the tube etc. However the other side was completely differet, thank God! He managed to re join this tube and said it was 100% successful. During the operation there was no live sperm seen but as the surgeon said this can take upto 8 months plus to come through. We now just have to let nature run it's coarse and keep our fingers crossed. My advice to you would be keep strong for yourself and for husband and DO think positive... your husband needs alot of reassurance and support too. Good luck with all x

"Are we too old??" Posted by tiggersgirl1 19 September at 10:38
My partner had a vasectomy done 13 years ago. I am 45 and he is 49. He is considering a reversal as we have discussed the possibility of having another child. I have three children and he has two. I had mine quite late in life at 34, 35 and 37 and fell quite quickly each time. I would be interested to know if anyone has actually had any success from a reversal done so long ago. I suppose it would be advisable for me to have a fertility test first before he has the reversal. It would seem pointless otherwise.
Are we too old too, for it to possibily be successful?
Thanks

"Never too old!!" Posted by ossy12 22 September at 20:53
My husband recently had a reversal after 13 years . Gladly, the op went well and we are taking things day by day and letting nature run its course. On the day of the operation the surgeon told us that he had carried out reversals on men who had had their vasectomies 20 years ago, AND to patients who were in their 50/60's (the eldest being 70!!!!). So all i would say to you is GO FOR IT if this is what both you and your husband want, then why not??
Your never too old!!
Good luck x

Just worked out the total cost was about £2025 - will be well worth the money if it works - although we cant eat for a while!

"Im the proof!!!" Posted by kaylaw 24 March at 15:33
hey im 20 and im the product of a reversal. my dad was 45 when he had it done and i was concieved just a couple of months later. that was years ago medically speaking and the proceedure is alot simpler and less evasive now. if you want children and you know your hubby is def fertile because of his other children then you have every reason to go ahead with it. i was my mums miracle girl.... she had had 4 boys from her first marriage and was exstatic with a lil girl. just get your own fertility checked out just incase and find a very repuitable clinic that can provide you with good references. youll be sorted soon enough!! tc xxxx kayla

"Vasectomy reversal " Posted by pamelah3 23 March at 02:14
Hi, I read your story and thought I was reading about myself, I am 31 and have just celebrated my 1st wedding anniversary, my husband has 2 kids from his previous marriage and we have been looking in to a reversal. We were refered by our GP to through the NHS in June last year, they advised as it was considered as cosmetic surgery they could not do it, the only way they would do it is if it was for medical reasons. We have pleaded our case as my husband got the vasectomy as his previous wife had severe post natal depression. After several meetings with the board they have still come back and said no however we are getting it done in an NHS hospital and only costing £1200 which includes the consultancy fee. I thought my husband would not love a child we had together as much as his other 2 but he is already looking at prams and baby clothes so reckon I have just been a bit paranoid. We should find out this week when he is going in - they said it should be done by the end of April. It can sometimes feel like a slow process however it will all be worth it in the end. All the best.x

"Vasestomy reversal" Posted by neen86 10 March at 17:08
Hi, i was just looking for success rates when i came across this link and your story. I am also 21 and my fiance is 33 he a daughter from a previous relationship and had the snip 3 years ago. Has your husband had the reversal? We are having it done in May and it will cost is £2000. I wouldnt worry about your husband not loving the child you have together, he wouldnt be going through this if he didnt want a baby with you. We got an appointment to see a doctor on the nhs to have a chat about the reversal, i recommend you do that, he can talk you through everything. I hope this helps x

"Vasectomy reversal" Posted by tatyana301 4 March at 14:15
I am in exactly the same situation! My husband had 2 kids with his ex and had vasectomy done 14 years ago! He has "vasectomy reversal" op 28th Apr'08 at the Nuffield Hospital which will cost us £2,300.00 + £150.00 for the consultation. Now, I am 29 (almost 30) and really freaking out that the op might not be successful. Is there anyone out there who had it done after such long time? Pls let me know what are the chances for me to get pregnant?

"We had it done after a long time" Posted by jojo2847 2 July at 14:57
like you i'm freaking out too. have you had any samples analysed yet as this is the first step that we had to take. i also found (my partner's was done at the nuffield) that your just left to your own devises which can lead to so much frustration and can make you so low after the operation. we're just hoping that it is going to work as my partners first result came back positive for sperm! fingers crossed for you x
