Hi im on the coil but could i be pregnant?

Hi there i hope someone can help me out as im stuck.
Ive been having really bad cravings fo something that ive never liked in my life!!!
and been bleeding,
im on a coil and i ahve been for about 1 year now.I havent had any trouble before and i have had a ectopic pregnancy before!!How will i know and what symptoms shall i look for?Im going to take a test soon but thought id look on the internet first about it.

I was conceived when mum had a coil fitted

Hi there, my mum had fertility treatment to conceive my sister (first child) and then two years later after having coil in for a year found out she was pregnant with me!

Shows that it happens so test yourself quickly as if you are pregnant you will have more time to deal with it.

Stich like pain is it anything to do with my coil

Ive started getting pains and either side of my belly button going downwards which feel like a stitch, im also bleeding still 5 days after my period is due to finish.
Do you think the it could be the coil or are the pains too high up?

hi i had the coil fitted last sept and its the copper one, ive had no major problems with it, my periods do seem to be heavier and a bit more pain but they have always been regular, but receing similarntly i have been feeling very tired, feeling sick, my boobs have got a lot bigger and ive gone off certain foods that i really like, so im wondering if i could be pregnant, ive already got 3 children, but im so worried if i am because i have the coil still in, im going to be doing a test in the week can anyone offer me some knowledge or advice about something similar that they have experianced many thanks ..

hi im having similar symptoms as a few of u but i have the non hormonal coil so cant be the hormones released into my body??
I have the non-hormonal coil 4 approx 6months n been having regular periods ive also been having pains that are not like period pains or sorry to be crude, like when u need the toilet, its weird sort of pain. Also i keep having a funny sensation in my tummy like its doin sommersaults n it sometimes goes tense. Ive been having these 4 bout 2 weeks. My period has been n gone but still the pains remain. Also inside my vagina it feels like something is pulling inside, almost like something is contracting, very strange!! is this normal? id love 2 hear from people as im unsure what is normal n what isnt. very grateful 4 any help/advice u can give me. HI i seem 2 be having same sort of symptoms as a few of u. i have had a non-hormonal coil for about 6months and having regular periods. Recently have been having pains in my tummy, not like period pains or sorry to b crude, when u need the toilet. its a weird sort of pain, ive also been feeling like something is moving inside, my tummy seems 2 be doing somersaults and occasionaally feels like its tensing up. is this normal if ur on coil or could i be pregnant?? also ive been having some really weird feeling inside my vagina, a bit like a pulling sensation, almost like somethings contracting inside of me. i would love 2 hear back from people as im unsure of whats normal n what isnt. thanks xx keri uk 23 and 2 children 3yr old and 17months

Ive got same coil

ive had my coil for a year after having my 4 th baby she is 13 months now.
since ive had the coil in ive got heavery periods and they are every 31 days im thinking i could be preg as im 3 days late ive had no period pain or achy boobs like i get 4 days before my period so was thinking is it in my head or should i get a home test.

Yeah same here. I wonder how common this is and because everyone cannot be preggers. This is the second time ive had the mirena coil fitted, but I did not notice any strange symptoms last time, if at all there was any. I had my first coil fitted since I was 18 until I was 22. I had this one fitted not long after my second in January/feburary 08 so only been in 5 months or so. But, I've recently become very tired, sore boobies, and even having those first flutterings/kicking feelings. Oh and was off smells the other week and was bleeding slighty and i don't tend to get periods on the coil. It's got to be in my head and I cannot be pregnant. But it is very bizarre, too bizarre.

Thinking about taking a test, but thinkning is it worth it coz it would be too early any way. I think it could be all in my head or the coil lets off some sort of hormaone that messes with you............

Anyway did it turn out that you were pregnant, id love to know ???????????????????

hi just been reading your message and was woundering how you got on and was you pregnant ive had the coil for just over 4 years never missed my period but im late and neally due for my next did a test but it was negative love to know how you got on thanks

Hi, had the copper coil for nearly 5 years, no problems.. havent had a period since 23 sept on my honeymoon!!! day at most, came a week early..nothing since. Did two boots tests both negative but feel funny..no sore boobs but lower tummy niggling, not like period pain though...this is due to be removed june 2010, does it get less effective as time goes on?? 40 in Jan could do without this!!!Have a 10 year old. Any advice?

What you describe about being pregnant on the coil is because the coil tricks your body in making it think its pregant so when a sperm and egg meet they dont go together as your body is telling them they are already pregnant so not needed which is why at some time you get the symptons of being pregnant.

I need some help

i have been on the coil for 1 and a half years now but the last 3 or 4 months i have been bleeding all the time. i will come on when i am ment to then a week or so after i will start bleeding again. i have got 3 children already and i dont really want any more at the mo. can someone please help.

i have been on the coil for a year to and only the other day i started bleedin i went to the doctors they had a look and cudnt see the coil it had moved if i wer u go and c the doctor b4 it to late x

Hi Im not too sure if I am putting this up properly as I am new to his forum. I had a termanation last year and had the coil fitted, however latly I have been incredibly sick tired and god the headaches!! I have also had spotting of blood,I had my last period about 2 weeks ago so Im not due for another two weeks. I took a test but I think its too early anyway. If I was pregnant what effect would the coil have on the pregnancy if I wished to continue with i? would it be removed??? I keep getting mixed messages! Help!

Coil advice!

I had a coil fitted after a terminatrion a few years ago, what they don't tell you and what I didn't know at the time is that it is not reccommended that they fit this after a termination as it can make bleeding worse and the coil can come out without you noticing.
This happened to me and I feel pregnant 6 weeks after having a termination. It was awful.
Just noticed that this message is months old....sorry!

hope this doesnt get to you too late! basically, if you have had the mirena coil fitted, no matter how long ago, the use of the coil can result in an increased likelihood of ectopic pregnancy (fertilisation within the fallopian tubes, above the womb). while this type generally results in a higher amount of miscarriages, a woman CAN carry, healthily, full term with an ectopic pregnancy. If you become pregnant whilst using th coil, go to your gp or family planning, and it will be arranged to have it removed, regardless of whether you choose to keep the child or not. The coil would, I think, cause probelms during the pregnancy, not necessarily with the child, but i only say this because in any cause the coil would be removed upon discovery of being pregnant!!

i had the same thing as u i had a abortion ls year and had the coil fitted wen i was asleep only few days i strted bleedin for sumreason and i went 2 the doctors they sed the coil have moved.. my mate coil moved 2 and she fel preg cs it had moved but she cudnt keep the bby cs the coil 2 to close 2 the womb the bby wud of died neway x

I have just found out that i am 6 weeks pregnant and i have had the copper coil for 1 and half years with no problems! think you should do a test. i did one last week as i had suddenly taken a dislike to coffee! I am in shock i think as already have a 3 year old and a 1 year old.

I am in a similar ish situation but i have never had an ectopic pregnancy... I have been having what i think is spotting and i have some new oddly placed stretch marks appearing near my belly button..

hi everyone i am new to this website, but i have read all your comments on this subject and thought you may be able to help!
I have had the coil (T shape with brass wire) for nearly a year now, but recently i have been feeling butterflies in my tummy and also tightenings and some sort of movement like rolling inside my tummy, also i have been off certain foods and sometimes things smell horrible that weren't horrible before, also i have vomited twice in two weeks and also feel sick, i also have been suffering from syatica in my left leg from my buttuck down to my ankle, and the last time i suffered syatica was when i was pregnant with my last baby, i have had 3 children already, i have been having regular periods too. so what do you think? kind regards xxgreenfairyxx
