"I know a little..." Posted by chimpa82 13 August at 19:36
Hi there,
I have also been told the only way to have a child of my own is if we use donor eggs. I spoke with my consultant a few months ago who has 3 women on her records who have been to Spain...all 3 are now pregnant, 1 with twins. I looked up a clinic called eugin...in Barcalona(sorry can't spell!). They have sent me a personal outlay of what treatment I will need, along with timescales & what to do. Go onto their website, put in some details & they will detail all what you need to know. I'm going to go for it shortly.

""anyone tried ivf with donor eggs in spain?"" Posted by charley56 9 June at 16:30
I have just found your question that you asked back in April. I live in the UK and am 47 years old (48 this July). My husband and I have just come back from a fantastic holiday in California for two weeks where we went through the donor egg procedure. I am now seven weeks pregnant. The doctor we chose was absolutely fantastic - he telephones most evenings to make sure that everything is ok and my clinic in the UK liaises with his clinic on a regular basis giving him updates. My husband and I chose our donor from an agency in California recommended by our doctor. I could not recommend the whole procedure out in the States highly enough. Everyone was so upbeat and enthusiastic for us. All in all we paid around $20,000 dollars for the whole procedure which included $6,000 to the donor. Hope this was of some help.

Hi,
I would be very interested in details of the doctor and agency you went to in California. I am 45 in November and have been told that we should look at the donor egg procedure (after failed IVF with my own eggs). I am half vietnamese and half english.

"Donor eggs in usa" Posted by jan888 9 July at 19:15
So pleased to hear of your success in becoming pregnant. I am 47 this year and want to try for donor egg IVF after 2 miscarriages. I seem to be pre menopausal which is a shock as my mother didn't go through hers until early 50s. Because I am of Chinese origin, I'd imagine the US would offer more choice of donors. Would be very interested to know which clinics you went to as they seem to communicate well and have a good relationship. Seems vital to me if this is to take place in 2 countries. Hope all is going well.

"Also seeking east asian egg donor" Posted by bestofthreeworlds 29 July at 23:08
I'm also of Chinese origin, and am living in London, although am originally from California. We are also considering Egg donation, and have been looking at clinics in Southern California (where I'm from, and where I'm visiting right now,) as well as elsewhere in the world -- including SPain, Thailand, Russia and elsewhere in the world. Would be interested in sharing ideas and experiences, since the big obstacle is finding an East Asian donor, (when in Europe) and the high cost (when in the US). Hope to hear from you.

Hi i`m sorry to hear you are having fertility problems, we to have just had a failed ivf/icsi cycle so i know what your feeling it horrid and very hard to come to turms with. I am 39 this year and have been told the reason for it not working for us is my age and quality of my eggs GREAT old at this age hey! I have a 9 year old son by a previous marriage which i concieved naturally so i am SO VERY LUCKY to have him my failed cycle didnt make it any easier to except even though i have a child so i can imagin how you must feel not having any children. We to have been told to look at egg donors if we want to try again i had my treatment in suffolk and donors here are not ready available upto 18 month wait. Been suggested we look at donors in spain or checkoslovakia as there is no waiting list and its cheaper or find our own donor WHAT A QUESTION to have to ask somebody you know it`s so hard. Sorry i havn`t been able to answer your question if i find out any information i let you know and would be interested in what you know about spain.

Your message really strikes a chord. I met Mr. right late in life and started trying for children at 40. I am now 44 and after numerous tests and fertility treatment egg donation looks like our only option. 6 years is an excessively long wait. Definately look at options abroad. I just wish more people could see this site and appreciate the emotional pain and ache. As an infant teacher who just loves the job I am reminded daily of the one thing that I do not seem able to have. Keep trying and don't give up. I am also reading "One Life" by Rebecca Frayne - sad, funny but also uplifting it describes the lengths a woman will go to to have children.

"Donor eggs from spain" Posted by vradal 3 June at 23:48
We have finally decided that donor eggs are our last resort - I'd be very grateful if you could let me have any clinic details? It would save furhter visits to our clinic, which frankly I now find very depressing. Many many thanks K

"I feel for you" Posted by lotlot3 24 March at 10:37
Just latly All I seem to here about is people having to have to wait for the most incredible thing in the world, a baby. I have three children at the age of 28 and it was no bother, having twins the second time around I seem to produce a lot of eggs!! Not wanting to have any more children myself I have been thinking on how to help other people, The only trouble is I have no Idea about how to help you, what the costs are to me or you and how to go about the whole situation. If you could help me understand maybe I could help you!!
Kind Regards Charlotte x

Hi charlotte I have just come across your message replying to a lady who is looking for egg donor the same as i am after a failed IVF/ICSI cycle in suffolk. I am sure i am right in saying that there would be no cost to yourself for wanting to be a donor us ladies who need donors pay for all the treatment and egg collection for you in return for your eggs. I know you have to be under 35 years old and have had children yourself with no problems that i was told today. As far as how do you go about it you would just need to cotact your nearest clinic and offer to be a donor you would have to do blood test for certain things and have medical check. If you were suitable you would be given drugs to stimulate your body to produce when the clinic wanted you to i had to do this by injecting myself daily i hate needles and didnt think i could do it but TRUST me it dont hurt at all the only part of it i didnt like was as the weeks went on and my ovaries got bigger it was uncomfortable almost like a bad period pain. The egg collection was ok as they put you out for that. Your eggs are then donated to the next person on the waiting list at your clinic UNLESS you have somebody you want to help and they would go straight to the top of the list and have your eggs. You as a donor would not have any legal right to know if a child has been born to your donation the only way would be that the child would if told later in life be able to contact you but the lady that you donate to would be put as the biological mother on the birth certificate. I hope this is of some help to you i found all this information out today from my clinic and hope you understand a bit better now. GOOD LUCK hope you manage to help somebody soon if that`s what you want to do. Where are you from i am suffolk based from sharon x

"Treatment in spain" Posted by molly517 3 March at 16:48
Hi, I have just come across this website, and i wanted to reply to you. I have just had 1 cycle of ivf with donor eggs in spain. the clinic was recommened to me via the chelsea & westminister hospital in london. The clinic was in servilla in spain. The ivi clinic was fantastic, the staff were great, they kept me informed on everything. I am 42 and have been trying for 7 yrs. I only waited 3 months for a donor. Unfortunatly the treatment failed, but we will try again next year. The cost of the treatment was about 7,000. if you are thinking about having treatment in spain i recommend this clinic. Look up ivi it will come up with all their clinics in spain. The waiting list is only about 3 months.

"Spain" Posted by sandradee01 5 June at 15:57
Hi there
I have just set up our 1st appt with IM Barcelona after thorough research. Fertilityfriends.co.uk provides volumes of information and I found that site very helpful with hundreds of women in the same boat. There seem to be plenty of clinics in Spain but the Instituto Marques (IM) are in Barcelona and Madrid and if you google IVI Spain, many others come up.
good luck!

"Hi sandradee01" Posted by mermaid65 24 August at 13:05
Hi Sandradee01 Nice to meet you. I am from Sydney, Australia and been through 3 IVF cycles, about to do #4, but my Dr. has recommended donor eggs. He referred me to another IVF clinic that arranges donor eggs in Athens and this one you mentioned in Barcelona.
As donor eggs are almost impossible to come by in Australia (no money can be exchanged, donating eggs is not encouraged by governments, and IVF clinics don't want to get involved in legal battles).
This clinic just seems like it is out to make money and is pushing Athens, but that idea doesnt agree with my boyfriend and i, we preferred the idea of Spain and "Spanish eggs". It all sounds so expensive, especially from Australia.
Can you shed any light on which other clinics you looked at that looked recommendable and why you chose this one in Barcelona?
many thanks for your valuable input. And wishing you a positive result in your pregnancy test, good luck, cheers Sue
