Advise with clomid

Hi

I am 30 years old and me and my husband have been trying for a baby for over 1 1/2 years and after a number of test i was diagnosed with PCOS, evident with irregular periods. I been taking Clomid 50mg day 2-7 for the past 4 months, and finally on the 4th cycle i have had a natural period rather than one brought on by Northestorine (i think its spelt like that). The gyno clinic has advised i increase the dosage to 100mg. Need i say the side effects are damning!

I would love to hear from anyone in similar circumstances so that we can exchange notes, and please please if anyone can provide me with success stories.

thanks

Advice on clomid (clomifene)

Hi I am 23 years old and my husband is 26 years old, we have been married for 2 years this, but we have been trying for a baby for 3 years. I knew there was something wrong with me since I was a teenager with my periods and that but the Doctors don't care because you are young, so I changed doctors 4 times in 3 years and now I have finally got answers and whats wrong. I have just found out that I have endroitmois can not spell it and last Friday I got given Clomid tablets, I have just finsihed the first 10 tablets in total that you take each month (2 a day for 5 days), I have been given 4 months worth then I have to go back fo the remainder from the hospital as I have 6 months worth. I don't get how they work, whether you get prengnant straight away or what, the other problem is I also get two periods this month, one at the beginng which I have not long had and one at the end of the month. The other things is I also feel different in my self I.E. tired all the time, moody a bit, emontial now and then, eating werid things that I would not normally eat I.E. fruit, milk, bread, ham ect, hot and cold but mostly hot is that normal or am I weird. I have heard these tablets are good and they do work I know somebody who got pregnant in the first month. Can anybody help me please.

Clomid

Hi

I had a miscarriage 3 years ago fell pregnant almost immediately after taking the pill. Unfortunately my age is against me but they say Im ovulating, as I havea blocked tube and fybroids dont seem to be able to fall pregnant again so I tried clomid last year and again this year have one more lot to take. I have been feeling awful though sick so I eat and they say you put on weight, but thats only if you feel sick so I have been more careful this time. But I can tell you I have a friend that was prob around your age may be a few years older and she used clomid and fell pregnant the first month she took it and then when she took it again the 3rd time. So there is every hope for you. I also have another friend who took Clomid only for a month and her cycle started working properly and she fell and was told she wouldnt have children so hey Im sure your be fine but also the worry of not falling and feeling anxious isnt good either. Good Luck.

"clomid"

Hello,

I have been trying to get pregnant for 5 years, I have finaly just been given Clomid.
My tubes are fine I have a small amount of endometrious ( Think that is how its spelt) was advised yesterday that me body if not producing eggs.
i have been given 3 months worth of Clomid, on the 2nd month I have to have a blood test on my 21st day to see if it is working. i was told that when I start taking this the best day to consumate is the 10 + 11 days ( obviously all other days as well ).
I have lost all hope, I was just looking for some general good news just like yourself. I hope it all works out for you and me.

Clomid

Hi Honey I have used clomid and now have two wonderful children I am desperate to have a third but I have been told that at 45 I am too old to be considered for fertility treatment I know I should be happy with what I have but I have a new partner and have been trying for 5 years. Anyway enough of my problems I just wanted you to know that clomid does work good luck and take care love Suzy x

Sounds like its working!!!

Sounds to me like the clomid is now doing its job, if previously you needed provera to induce a period and this cycle was totally natural it sounds like it was an ovulatory one!!! Good luck with the rest of your cycles, wishing you a BFP really soon )

Re: clomid

Hi

Just seen your message so that's why such a late reply!!

Try and stay positive. My friend had PCOS and struggled to have her first child. She was on Clomid tablets and they worked for her for no.1 and no.2!!

I've also been on Clomid tablets. Had no problems that they could find but couldn't get pregnant for 2 years. Clomid don't make you feel great but they clearly work as I'm now 8 weeks pregnant! I was only given 6 cycles of clomid and it worked on cycle 5! Don't think it wont happen if it doesn't happen straight away. I was beginning to think it wasn't going to work but how wrong was I!! Hope this helps. Best of luck.

Clomid

Hi There,

Myself and my partner have no medical problems, apart from myself having a slightly high FSH level, but for some reason we just can't seem to conceive. We've been trying for 4 years now and we're both 38.

I've just finished my first course of Clomid (50mg) and so far so good. I've just had my second ultra sound to see if everything is working as it should. They have had to give me an injection today which will hopefully release the egg from the folicle. The folicle is of good size and they've measured the lining of my womb which is also OK, so we're just keeping our fingers crossed and hoping we will be successful this month.

The Clomid has made me feel quite ill over the last couple of weeks with headaches, feeling sick, having hot flushes and generally feeling unwell. I've also noticed that I'm starving hungry all the time which isn't good !!

I've been reading quite alot of forums about other people on Clomid, it seems to have quite a high success rate - I really hope it works !!!

Hi

Hi,

Many thanks for replying.

Just wondering, are you based in the UK and using NHS for treatment? Reason I ask is because I have been given the Clomid by Royal Surrey Hospital, and there have been never been any follow up ultra sounds to check progress. I have read on a number of forums stating that women on clomid are having ultra sounds as well. Am I missing out on something?

I understand there is a high success rate, its just the waiting period that is now kind of getting to me. Well I will keep you posted to let you know how things go.

Good Luck and I hope you things work out soon.

Clomid

just thort i'd say hi im 27 years old and av been tryin 4 a baby ova 2 years and 2day just been given clomid and been told to take them 4 3 months but like u i avnt got any follow up appointments til 4 months and just wundered why some women do and sum dont.i am praying these tablets work as i av ad endemetriosis twice once resulting in part of my bladder bein tuk away and have only 1 workin tube so fingers crossed xx

Hi again

Yes I am in the UK, Nottingham actually. I was referred to the University Hospital in Nottingham and they have been really good so far.

Because of my age they have a programme worked out for me which is 6 months on Clomid, 3 attempts at IUI and then in the meantime they are putting me on the IVF register.

When they gave me the Clomid I was told that every month I would have to go for an ultra sound scan to check if I have folicles in my ovaries and to monitor the size of them. They also measure the thickness of the lining of your womb. They said the ultra sound had to be done on day 12 of my cycle and the Clomid had to be taken on days 2 to 6.

When I went on day 12, the folicles weren't that big so they booked me in for another scan 4 days later and by then one of them had grown considerably but hadn't ruptured which meant I hadn't ovulated. They said that could be the reason I wasn't getting pregnant. They gave me an injection which they say makes you ovulate in the next 24 hours and then I've got to go for a blood test a week later which will show if I have ovulated or not.

I can't believe that the hospital aren't monitoring you in any way, my Consultant said that they always keep a close eye on patients taking Clomid. To be honest it also makes you feel abit better knowing that the tablets are working as they should and your body is functioning as it should.

Whether I get pregnant or not is a different matter. I've been trying for so long now I've about given up hope. Also with my age and the slightly raised FSH level I'm at the point of thinking it's never going to happen.

Maybe you should enquire with your consultant to see why they don't give scans or do blood tests - it can't hurt to ask.

Let me know how you get on.

All the best.

Clomid

Hi

I opted to go private as the NHS were taking ages just to see me and my Husband!

I am on my first cycle of Clomid 50mg, I have to give blood tests at certain times of my cycle and I have to attend a pelvic scan soon.

I think you should be monitored when taking Clomid as there are side afects associated with it.

I guess every case is different!!!

Have you had any side effects from taking clomid?

Hi

i cant comment on clomid but just wanted to say hello.
i have been tring just over 18 months now, and hae been to the hospital today to start tests.
It was all a bit scarey really, i have to go back in Novenmber for a hycosy tests which i am not looking forward to sounds quite horrible.
i am just hoping it will happen before then.
What is clomid for?
Hope things happen for you soon. Good luck and take care xxx
