Uk surrogacy laws
Hi there Roberta,
Firstly I am NOT a surrogate mother, but I do know a little about it as my niece was born via surrogacy earlier this year.
It is legal in the UK providing only expenses are paid. The normal amount is around £10.000 but in order for it to be legal in the UK a surrogate must work with a family who are married, live in the UK and one of them must be genetically related to one of the 'intended' parents.
Its illegal to advertise for or as a surrogate mother in UK.
You could try www.surromomsonline.com they are based in america but lots of UK surrogate and European surrogates advertise on there, you can also place a free classified ad yourself.
Just be wary, as using a UK surrogate could lead to heartache when it come to taking your baby out of the country, a parental order would not be granted unless you met the criteria and you don't as you aren't a UK citizen, so you could potentially end up in trouble as you would be unable to get a passport to take your baby home.
Sorry if it sounds negative, i'm sure theres ways around it.
You could also try posting on www.fertilityfriends.co.uk they have a section specially for surrogacy and some of the knowledgable ladies on there will no doubt help you.
