Thinking about donation

My husband and I have made the conscious decision not to have any more children (we have 2 beautiful sons aged 4 and 1) but I can help thinking about the fact many women will not be able to experience motherhood due to fertility issues.

I had some reservations regarding the legal responsability which may come with donation but have read about this today so no longer conscerned.

I was just wondering about what the next stage was once I have made the decision that I would like to do this.

I think I would be a suitable donor as I am only 27 a non smoker, non drinker and fit and healthy. My sons are also really healthy and we have been told that their development is above average for their ages so I am confident that I have good genes lol!

I also would like to go down the surrogacy route too as I adore being pregnant and never had any of the usual side effects. I need to speak to my husband about this as this has a more obvious impact on him and my familys life.

If anyone could point me in the right directions in relation to websites etc that would be great.

I live in South East London if that would effect the sites I would need to look at ie support groups etc.

Thanks in advance

Natalie

Donor or surrogacy

Hi Natalie

I am in the opposite position to you, I have been trying to have a baby for years with no success, going down IVF etc with no success. I have ovarian failure and my husband has a low sperm count so it cannot happen naturally for us. We are looking into either a donor egg with me carrying the baby or surrogacy. We have a surrogate who is willing to assist us but naturally enough I suppose as she is a relative she does not want to use her eggs.
It is a big decision for you to make either way, but a fantastic one if you want to help someone else have a child.
There are quite a few websites, HFEA advise of what to do in terms of egg donation and all the clinics in your area who would use this service, surrogacy is covered to some extent but COTS and Surrogacy UK are good sites if you are thinking of that option.
If you are thinking of donating to someone you can get to know rather than anonymously then sites such as this will have plenty of people who are looking for a donor - myself included, if you would like to speak further you can always pm me.
Thanks

Alison

Donor needed

Hey, I saw you posting. My husband and I are looking for a donor. We are unable to have kids of our own due to ovarian failure, which was diagnosed a 5 years ago. It was really hard to come to terms with, but we have been given the opportunity to have fertility treatment in the UK, on the condition we get a donor. Could you tell me a bit more about yourself, i.e. hair, eye colour etc.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Sue
