becoming a egg donor

Hi everyone i am interested in donating my eggs in the near future and wondered how one goes about doing so and who the best people to sign up with are! If any of you guys can help it would be much appreciated. I would also like to know if i will be able to conceve again myself after donating and if anyone could give me a personal experiences i would be very grateful.

I would like to help lovely people share the joys of being a parent (and the tantrums!) both equally challenging but rewarding. i have two beautiful little girls myself 8months and 3 and would not be complete without them.

Wonderful!

Hi Carly,

I think it's wonderful that you want to find out more about being an egg donor and giving the gift of life to a couple who need help.

I've been an egg donor three times, I'm about to work with my fourth couple next month. I can honestly say it's the most rewarding and humbling experience and I'm so pleased I got involved.

I've yet to have my own children, so I looked into all the ins and out of whether the IVF cycles would adversley affect my fertility before I got involved. This is something you'd have to look into and weigh up whether the risks are tiny enough for you, as they were for me.

The best place to begin getting information from is the National Gamete Donation Trust, it's a charity and provides lots of independent information and support. There's a terrific forum where you can post questions and anyone you call is really friend. Here's the website:

http://www.ngdt.co.uk/

There's also a really good blog site with first hand experience on there, so you can read what donors and recipients have written about their journeys. I was asked to write a write a 6 week blog entry on the in and outs of my first egg donor cycle, you might find this useful:

Good luck Carly, I really hope you find being an egg donor is the right choice for you. If you have any other questions or want any further information, feel free to message me.

All the best,

Evegenia
