Irregular periods & trying for a baby
Hi,
Good advice on using the ovulation tests, it's nice reading these messages knowing I'm not the only one having problems, I'm feeling fed up at the moment.
My hubby and I decided to try for a baby so I came off the pill in June 06 and I have had one period since then which was in November. My periods are very irregular anyway (sometimes only two a year). I'm really kicking myself I didn't come off the pill sooner now.
Worst thing is, not long after we decided, my best friends started telling me they were pregnant they are due within the next few months. I keep hoping and praying but at the same time trying not to think about it and thinking it will happen when the times right.
My Doctor has put me on waiting list to visit hospital but there is a 9 month waiting list. I've had some symptoms that I thought may have beens signs of pregnancy (nausea, stomach pains, needing to go to the loo a bit more often), but I've done two pregnancy tests recently but both negative. I work out if I was to fall pregnant at this time I would now be about 4.5 weeks gone, what's the longest a pregnancy test will take to show a positive result bearing in mind how irregular i am?

thx 4 the reply sarah, sorry 2 hear the probs u r havin, the most reliable way 2 find out seems 2 b blood tests, if u dont mind me askin ru over weight?? i am thats all n on my gyne appointment they told me that i need 2 loose weight n that is the causes 4 my absent periods as i am not ovulating. i 2 had symptoms like u but wat it was, was i was thinkin bout it too much n was hopin that i had symptoms, every1 around me seems 2 b preg 2, fingers crossed 4u that u r.

I'm a size 12, haven't lost or gained weight ever really. Two of my friends were over weight and they were both told they needed to lose weight to have a baby, they both did and once they'd lost they both immediately fell pregnant so fingers crossed for you too. My Dr put me on the pill about 7 years ago because my periods were so irregular and that was fine as at least I knew when to expect my periods, but it hasn't helped me long term!! I think you are right about the thinking about it too much and hoping I had some of the right symptoms. But I have got this really funny sensation in my stomach at the moment, I've been to the Dr about it and have to go back in 3 weeks so I was just hoping that was a sign, but don't think it is, just wishful thinking! My friends, my aunty, everyone just had babies/having babies soon. Driving me crazy when I want one so bad!!!!!

Feels like forever!
hiya, it jus makes u feel so down doesnt it?? jus out of curiosity how much weight did they loose as i am findin it very hard!! i think that it worse as i know that my weight is the issue it is makin me more paranoid about it!! x x

Don't be paraniod!
Yes, it sure does make you feel down, but really don't think that helps the situation! One lost about 3 stone, the other maybe a stone. I know they found it really hard, but were also really determined as they both wanted a baby so much. Jsut because your overweight doesn't mean you will not conceive, just weight factor helps. Don't give up. It'll happen when you least expect it, that's what I keep telling myself anyway! My age factor I'm worried about as just hit 30! x

hiya thx 4 replies it really helps!! well im not sure if i ovulated last week as it wud of been round the 2 week mark after i finally came on!! But im gona c how my appointment goes wit gyne & then get some ovulation tests i av been lookin on ebay also & they r really cheap on there as u buy in bulk. not sure if i was avin a few period pains yesterday i am hopin that it wasnt really!!

I understand how frustrated you are!
Its sad to say but there is nothing you can do except wait for your body to get back into a routine.
I came of the pill in June 06 and started trying straight away, finally i fell pregnant in November 06 and i felt like i had been trying for ever!
I had two periods during the five months after coming off my pill - took loads of pregnancy test because i was so late but were all negative.
I even went to my doctor who told me it could take anything from 1-2yrs for my body to get back into a regular cycle - everyone is different.
I then purchased some ovulation tests which i done daily until it showed that i was ovulating. Some months i never ovulated at all which explained the absent period and negative test results.
I strongly recommend you try these test (i got my on ebay - the strips are the cheapest and can buy in bulk).

thx marie 4 ur comment, i had a look on ebay n they r very cheap so i will prob defo b investing in some after i know how my gyne appointment goes!! Did u have ne symptoms wen u were ovulating as last week i was havin really bad pains on the right side of my womb & slight discharge?? i am due on durin the week so it wud of made sence that it was ovulation??

I agree with previous person - to to dr. I had no period for a year - it turns out my hormones were wonky due to PCOS - the dr. was able to sort it out and I am now pregnant - but I shouldn't have waited a year!

hiya thx for comments, i have been doctors and i had a transvaginal scan in august & all was clear but i also have a gynecologist appointment in january, im tryin not 2 think bout it 2 much but so many ppl around me r gettin preg without even trying! its gettin 2 me now! im not sure wat 2 say 2 docs as i think they mite get annoyed wit me goin bk!! x x

have left you an email. computer has been broken. was due period on sunday but nothing. however last tuesday morning i had very slight brown bleed which turned to very light red but only lasted the morning. i have had nothing since but have been getting period pains. keep thinking could it be implantation bleed but i know too well not to get my hopes up. hope you ok x

Doctors
you should make a docs appointment asap, you could be pregnant a blood test would shoow if you were or an ultrasound, however it may just be your hormones need fixing, but either way a doctore will know best and good luck

Brown discharge??? whats going on?
hiya guys
lastnight with no warning i had a brown discharge like u do at end of period n it has been slight through 2day aswell?? i have not got no period pains although my boobs r a bit sore? now i am totally confused!! i will b 11 weeks late this thursday to wen my period was last due?? please help

i thought that lastnite! i was prancin round like a prat! lol but i also thought it cud b ovulation or apparantly an infection? did u av period pains with it?? mayb it 2 soon 4 ya test 2 show positive, thats very common x x

It was a period! yay!!
well it turned into a period which is a BIG step in the rite direction it was only 11 weeks late!! lol
roll on 18th jan wen i c gynecologist.
