Just stoped taking the pill

Hi sabrina, I to have stoped taking the pill about 3weeks ago, the first week after stopping i thought i would have my peroiod but didnt so we carried on having sex with out a condom, by the end of the week i could tell that something in my body was happening and sure enought the 2nd week i
had my period and lasted 7 days after that no period and i carried on as normal. I made sure that ive got a dairy so i can write my dates down as ive been on the pill a long time Hope this helps.

Try not to worry

Hiya,

I dont think there is a normal thing to expect to happen after being on the pill. I came off Microgynon 30 Oct 06 after 8 years on it... I had my bleed as normal but then waited 39 days until I had another period, the next came 26 days after that, then 34 days and I'm now at day 34 and nothing...Whereas my friend who came off the pill has had perfectly regular periods from the start!!!! I think the bottom line is the pill kind of messes up your own bodys natural rythym and I've read it can take any where between 3 to 12 months for your body to regulate... so anything in between is just your bodys way of getting back to normal.

I wouldnt worry about it too much, there is always going to be some craziness before it all settles down... but you could always go to see your GP for some reassurance....

Take care

Just stopped taking the pill - a reply

Hi Sabfortune,

just thought i'd pop a quick message on to say that sometimes when you come off the pill it takes your body a wee while to adjust and therefore your periods might not go back to normal straight away.

my advice is, just keep at it and you should fall pregnant before you know it.

Good luck

Amy

Hi

to say you finished the whole pack is abit strange that you late on period. are you under any stress? trying for baby can be very stressful. me and partner been trying for year now and no luck. if still no period test again in weeks time. let me know how you get on x

Hello again

thanks for getting back to me got my periods today after all so nothing to worry about just want my body to get back to some normality i heard there are lots of side effects to coming off the pilldid you use the pill yourself

Yes

i was on pill for about 5 years. the last one i used was depro injection wish gave me horrible side effects. any way been off pill for nearly 2 years now sometimes i would miss 3 periods at a time. last period was 4 week late. we been trying for 12 month now. some people come off pill and get pregnant straight away. while for others it can take a little longer. everybody is different. but some side effects you get from coming off pill are similar to those you would get from being pregnant. good luck and let me know how you get on. you could use ovulation strips to see when you at most fertile time, i have just started to use them. can buy them in bulk from ebay really cheap. take care x

Thanks rach

thanks rach will do...

Thanks

thanks

After the pill

Hi,

I am so glad to have found this forum and this message! I came off the pill on December 26th 2006, and was due on Tuesday 23rd - but no sign of the dreaded period.

I feel really down most of the time, and get snappy at my partner - and thats not me at all - I'm usually life and soul of the party - but i've been really moody!

How long do we have to put up with this?

Help with hormones / moods after coming off the pill

Hi,

I have recently come off the pill after taking it for 16 years, the last pill being Yasmin which I took for about 3.

The thing is I really suffer with pmt / hormones and I'm really worried that I will start feeling the after effects if I dont start taking something for them.

I went to the doctor who told me I'd have to take anti-depressents but I'd like to avoid that route if at all possible. I am taking Agnus Castus every day but is that enough?

Any thoughts or advice you can give is much appreciated.

Emily

Grumpy!

I know what you mean!

I came off the pill (Yasmin) mid-January and I've been a nightmare ever since, which as you say also, is very un-normal!

At first I couldn't stop crying. I even had to take a day off work as I just couldn't stop. I felt so pathetic, however after reading up on the subject, it appears that it's all quite normal as your hormones are no longer supressed. So that's it then - blame the hormones!!

I am getting better now though, and no longer burst into tears in the middle of the supermarket aisle!

So, I've completed the first month of my three-month break from the pill before trying to conceive. My period came after 29 days so that was encouraging.

I'm taking lots of the right vitamins, including folic acid, and trying to make myself really healthy.

I'm very excited about starting a family with my partner soon!

We're also in the process of buying a house at the moment - so trying not to get too stressed over that!

Great to see what you've all written and it helps to think that what we're all going through is completely normal...well, as normal as ever!
