hi ,
to answer you question it does work. my cycles have been screwed up for many of years. i conceived the first time around. it also is the safest and most inexpensive way to go . i tried for 4 years tell my ob put me on provera and clomid. i also have an underactive thyroid to tie it all together. if that is anyones problem the say you levels have to be pretty close on .

Whole thread for the following message:

"Trying to concieve clomid+provera "

Hi. Im new to the forum and just wanted to share my story and see if anyone has any advice or if anyone is going through the same as me.
I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago, which explained a lot of issues i had. Me and my partner have been trying to concieve now for over 18months and at the moment i feel really desperate and useless. I have really irregular periods and i haven't been ovulating.
My Ob/gyn prescribed me with Provera (to induce a period) and Clomid 100mg to take CD3-7. I started Provera 01/01/07 and my period came along 09/01/07. I took my 5 days of clomid from the 3rd cycle day and now im just waiting and hoping i'm going to ovulate. Has this worked for anyone else?

Many Thanks ljsttc

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY IRREGULAR PERIODS, I WAS PUT ON PROVERA TO BEGAN MY PERIOD. MY DOCTOR TALKED TO ME ABOUT CLOMID, DOES IT WORK. I ALSO HAVE THYROID PROBLEMS. SHOULD I CONSIDER CLOMID, IM TRYING TO CONCEIVE.

I am also PCOS (although was symptomless, until my periods stopped).

I had 'something' to give me a period (obviously like provera), then took clomid starting at a very low dose (half a 50mg tablet a day) for 5 days (can't remember from what cycle day). At day 21 I went for a blood test to see if I had ovulated.

This went on for about 8 months, kept at a low dose initially, then upped it every so often to see what dose caused ovulation. Finally I ovulated on 2x50mg tablets per day consistently. A few months after this was confirmed via the day 21 blood tests (which I went for every cycle) i became pregnant.

I think the reason my dr started low dose was to prevent the risk of multiple eggs being released (this can cause a hormone overload/shock apparently). But I kind of forget the reason already - although I knew very well then!

i am currenty 34 weeks pregnant. Good luck!

After that I had regular periods so I didnt' take that again, just the clomid.
