"Heeelp!! girls names - french? traditional?"
Posted by ruthsnewbaby 18 February  at  22:17

I am in desperate need of a baby girls name!!
I've got 2 kids already, Taylor (girl) and Jack. I really like some of the french names and the more traditional names, but I want something really pretty. Any ideas??

I love french names also and it's had been a bit of a tradition in my fam. I like several family members names but dont want to repeat. Here are some I like.

Mijanou Me-juh-new
Bernadette
Micheline
Gislaine

I also love this name, used it for my son. I don't think anyone would know if it's male or female but it is Ethiopean.

Hi!
What do you think about Manon? (the strong syllable is the last one, I think). Its french and original, in my opinion. Angèlique is pretty and classic, too. My favourite French names are:
Angèlique
Chloé
Danielle
Nathalie
Satine/ Satheene
Ariane
Arielle

About traditional names, my favourite classic name (if its what you're refering to) is Madeleine, and it sounds very French too!

We named our daughter (born 4 months ago) Elodie. Our last name is french, so we thought it would go well with it. We've met 2 Elodie's before naming her, and since she was born we've learned of about 4 others. I guess it was the 134th most popular name in France in 2005. About 10 years ago it was about the 25th most popular. We get compliments every time we tell someone her name.

My favourite french girls name is definitely Margeurite...Margeurite being the french for Daisy...beuatiful Lyrical name...And quite biasedly...used by 7 generations of women in my family as a middle name...and 2 first names.

My Daughters name Is Ailys Margeurite.

The explanation of her first name appears in this forum as "How we picked and original name"

I m French so I know quite a lot but they may be difficult to pronouce for English speakers. The one I prefer which are not v.common in France :

Girls:

Alienor (Eleanor in GB)
Adelaide
Anael
Apolline
Gabrielle
Raphaelle
Honorine (from Honours)
Isaline

Boys:

Arthur
Alexandre
Hippolyte
Nathanael
Zachary

or you can go on the French version website: http://www.aufeminin.com/m/maman/prenom-prenoms.ht-ml

I saw one of you love Elodie. I m so happy cause it my name. It was v. popular in the 80's. My second name is Aubrée is it helps someone.

However, Solange is quite old-fashion, it's my grandma's name.

At the moment, for the girls the top 5 is: Emma, Lea, Manon, Chloe, Camille.
For boys: Thomas, Theo, Hugo, Lucas, Enzo

I do so hope that you are the last of your line...there is enough mean spirited vitreole in the world already.

For you to be able to pass your horrible genetic makeup on,and thereby ruin some perfectly good child,is not only repugnant...but proof again(if any were needed) of what a good thing birth control is..In some cases it should be retro-active(That means you and all other bullies).

I am quite sure that not a day goes by when you don't prove to some poor soul, what a confoundedly miserable cause of suffering and embarassment you must be to your own parents.End the cycle now...forget kids...buy a pitbul, and go back to chewing on your own toenails.

And as for "Speacking" french....speaking English would be a miraculous start.
