Jada or giada?

Please help - our baby girl is arriving in about a month and we still haven't decided on the spelling of her name!!!

My husband is Irish/Chinese and I'm Italian, and we both always liked the name "Jade" for a girl, although since the name has become quite popular, we would prefer a slightly more "exotic" version.

I suggested the Italian version, i.e. "Giada" (pronounced "Jah-dah"), while we also like it spelled "Jada". The only problem with the latter version is that where we live (in the US) it would probably be pronounced "Jay-da", which we don't like as much...

What do you think? How would you pronounce "Jada"? Would you find "Giada" difficult to read/pronounce?

Thanks for your advice!!!

Jahda?

What about hte spelling Jahda? The 'h' keeps it exotic, and that way you get the pronounciation you prefer.
For the general american population, i'd be worried about "giada" being pronounced "jee-ah-dah"

How bout

Maybe tweak the spelling a bit to get the pronunciation the way you like:
Jahda,
Jaada

Jada or giada

I think the spelling Jada would most often be pronounced jay-da however you will probably find with the spelling Giada it will become very annoying having to spell or pronounce the name for people I think the spelling Jarda fits the pronouciation best however if you are set on one of these two spellings I think Jada would be best

Sorry i am the opposite

Giadia(v close) is an awful food poisoning illness! Common through infected water.
Jada is lovely but might need and r in it "Jar-da" to stop it being pronounced Jay-da

Suggestion

Hello,

I prefer Giada. I'm Australian and i would pronounce Giada as Jah-dah.

I like Jada, though i think it's too common these days. I would pronounce Jada as Jah-dah as well.

I hope this helps

Names

I would probably pronounce jada as jay-da just because I know a girl with that name and that is how she spells it and she pronounces it Jay-da! good luck

Jada?

Giada? It would be too challenging for an american audience, . Jiada an option?
