Last names

Hi, this is my first post. I am hoping that i will get some honest answers to my question. My son is 5 yrs old. I know that this is a place to talk about baby names so i thought i would ask here because the people that read this are thinking about names.
For the first 3 years of my sons life i was a single mum so he had my last name 'Norman'. I am getting married soon and my fiance wants me to change my last name and Jacob's last name to 'Croser'so we are a family. I want to change my name but i dont want to have a different last name from my son. My family dont want me to change my sons name to 'Croser' because he is a boy they want him to carry on the Norman name. Friends have suggested adding the names together but i think that Jacob Adam Norman-Croser sounds to harsh and too long. Please reply some suggestions because i want to make everyone happy.

Let your son decide when hes old enough

you have to do what you feel is right for you and your family should be happy for you whatever that is. it shouldnt be about what they want. but also your fiancee should know that youll love him the same whether you have the same name or not. as family is ppl who care about each other, love each other and are happy together, a family is not what you are called. maybe wait until your son is old enough and let him decide for himself?

if you change your sons name he wont be carrying on the 'norman' name, cos it wont be just norman anymore anyway, itll be norman-croser.

ppl put to much emphasis on a name these days sometimes

hi, i think you should keep his last name its a very pretty name and you wouldnt wanna change his last name right now and dont you want him to carry on the norman name right?

Last name

just keep the last name because its the fathers name and its shows how much ydou love him if yolu realy do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would..

I would change Jacobs name to Croser so yous all had the same name, and yous would all feel equal.

Hyphenated names are harsh, you should all have the same name so yous are family.

I had that trouble when my parents divorced, They hyphenated my name so it was Hayden-Lewis
It sounded like a boys name with

'Martha Rose Hayden-Lewis'

So when I turned 18 I changed it to Lewis [My moms last name] And i feel so much better.

I hope this helps!

Keep it

if you change jacobs all of the children are going tofeel like they have different fathers

i would change my sons name and tell your family that is what you want to do. i do agree it will be far to long for your child. i would do what ever makes you happy. take care.

I think

just keep it because if you change it and tell your family thats what you want to do then they might get kind of nervis aboudt that beleave me my sister tryed that it just missed up her realashinship
