Wow!

these are magnificent names. my girls are Shoa'li, Shaia, and Sheovana. I love names that aren't the norm!

Spero is the italian for *i hope*

Da Vinci and Galilei are italian surnames, why didn't you use Leonardo and Gelileo instead?

I don't like using surnames as names maybe because I'm Italian and in Italy nobody does, I find it weird.

Calliope is one of my favorites I love names from Greek Mythology

Wow

wiccan by any chance? ? ?

Not quite

no,that did make me laugh though.
halliwell, thats the closest thing i guess.

we're actually christian. just plain christian, as i believe in faith, not so big a fan of organized religion.
but um, god, ok, my kids, their first names all mean something to them personally. six of them were adopted and so their first names have something to do with their family names before we brought them home. their middle names, as you may have guessed are all after characters or people we love, just because...i dunno.

Spero Caspian (sparrow cas-pee-en)
spero is latin for hope. i have always always always loved the name and my husband of course had no objections, he's also very creative, being a filmaker, he's open to anything. caspian is the name of an extraordinary prince in CS lewis' narnia series. Spero is 8; our biological son and was born while i was in grad school, studying abroad in Greece.

Poet Abene(poe-et ah-ben-eh)
poet is self-explanatory. its just absolutely beautiful. abene is a name for my best friend, whom has been so since high school, and was my roomate all four years of undergrad work and part of medical school. her name is monica, but i've always called her bene, and so this was more fitting. Poet and Miro are twins; adopted are both 7 and were born in Cambodia

Miro Tolkien(mee-roe toll-ken)
Miro is a form of Miroslav which is Slavic for peace and glory. mir actually means peace. Tolkien is of course the author of the LOTR trilogy as well as the hobbit silmarillion, screwtape letters...etc. Miro is poet's twin; 7 years old. They are not biological twins, but share a birthday and many features. when we arrived at the orphanage to bring poet home we were instantly drawn to him, and it goes from there.

Alkemy Cavatica(al-kem-ee cuh-vat-i-ka)
Alkemi is a variation of alchemy, which is turning something of little value into gold. cavatica is of course, the last name of the spider in charlottes web, charlotte a. cavatica. Alkemy is 5; was adopted from kenya when she was three, and is loooooovely. pretty much everyone calls alkemy kimmy, which was a result, i think, of lyric not being able to figure out quite how to say her name.

Lyric DaVinci(lir-ic duh-vinch-ee)
lyric, like poet, is self-explanatory. i actually met someone named lyric while doing my residency and couldn't get it out of my head. davinci, i think, is also pretty obvious. lyric is four and a half; and was adopted from russia. we actually had an entirely different name picked for him, but when we met him, our eldest three came to the consensus that his cry sounded like a song. we had alkemy, so we knew they were just not reacting like little wierdos to crying, haha. so his name needed to be "musical" according to spero. even though most people call him by his first name, it's not uncommon for lyric to be addressed as "vinni"

Calliope Halliwell(ka-lee-oh-pay hall-ee-well)
i thought it was really important for some reason for calliope's name to be tied to her brother's and sister's. calliope was a greek muse of poetry and eloquence which connected her to poet, miro and alkemy.. the name actually means beautiful voice which ties her to lyric. finally, halliwell was the name of the three "charmed ones" we actually let spero choose that, because we couldn't think of a way to tie his name in. we were going to make her middle name Pax, which is latin for peace, since spero's is hope, but um....a celebrity has recently used that name so, haha. oh. Calliope is 3 and was born in egypt. Calliope is usually called "ladybug" at home

Pyrrho Severus(pai-roe severus, haha)
pyrrho's name has a special meaning for him. his family name was armenian for "small fire" it was kind of a tribute. severus, here, i think, is obvious. he has always been, and especially now, is my favorite character in the HP series. we had a family(including extended) vote, between severus and bilius(ron's middle name) and severus won of course. pyrrho is almost three and was adopted from armenia while my family and bene's family were living there. Pyrrho is almost always called Pai, though the oldest three and sometimes kimmy, call him sev, as they are all big HP fans.

Echo Galilei(ek-oh gal-ih-lai)
Echo was a total surprise. i think most people think that we're crazy mad anyways having seven and when i found out i was pregnant with echo...it was um...woah. haha. but, she was a happy surprise, and we're more than able to provide for our kids, so we welcomed her. our family's were living in ethiopia as me and monica are both doing aids research, and chris(my husband), will travel anywhere, as he never knows where he'll find his inspiration. her name was supposed to be Asha. My little sister is named aisha, so we thought the variation would be neat. but, the first time i saw her, i knew that couldn't be her name. she looked exactly like aisha. EXACTLY, not a single difference except that my sister is darker. we named her echo to honor aisha anyways, and galilei is obviously a namesake to galileo galilei. she is 4 months old, and still looks exactly like aisha. Echo is always called echo, sometimes baby.

Brilliant.

I think it is lovely that your children's names all represent something about who they are - building solid foundations.

As always just my personal opinion :0)

Thankyou

very much.
