Chelsea or britney for my son?

Hi Everyone. I am now expecting my third son due in about three more months. I have two boys already (7 and 10) and really like unisex names rather than "traditional" names. When we...

Funny, to me these belong to the boys

Nearly every name you've metioned is, IMHO, a boys name only, not really unisex.

In regards to Chelsie and Britney, if you must name your handsome little boys frilly feminine names, you might at least consider beautiful ones...Sorry to be harsh, but I don't even like these names on a girl! They are cloying and a little 'down market'

Really?

I think I've known at least one guy and girl for each of those names. those are the best choices. They are right in between masculine and feminine.

Just to clarify!!

just to clarify...I was referring to the list above not to the names Brittany or Chelsea.

Britney or chelsea = social suicide

I'm sorry but no matter how you cut it, Madison, Britney, and Chelsea are girls names. Sure they are considered unisex but think of their feminine associations.

I would go with
Caleb
Callum
Blue
Bryce
or
Jordan

Totally agree

jordan is a lovely unisex name, and i have known both boys and girls called tht. pls pls pls pls pls do NOT called ur lil boy those names, theyre far too feminine. Hope all goes well.

No!

Please don't do this to your baby, think about when he is a teenager and on the football team, Number 13 Chelsea. Here are some suggestions:
Aubrey
Bailey
Caden
Dakota
Eden
Fallon
Gale
Hayden
Ivy
Jadyn
Kendell
Lesley
Mackenzie
Nat
Orlan
Piper
Quimby
Rainey
Sammy
Trilby
Utah
Valentine
Whitley
Xan
Yale
Zane

Too girly

I think that Chelsea and Britney are way too girly:

here are some great unisex names:
-Kelly
-Aaron
-Kahlan
-Jordan
-Taylor
-Alex
-Sam
-Jen
-Gwen

-There are lot's of other great ones, but as a teenager, I am telling you, for your child's sake, please do not name your son Chelsea or Britney

Please don't do that to your son...

Madison and Ashley are fine, because they are actually boy's names. Chelsea and Britney are not. There are several boy names that have drifted towards the girls that might work for you:

Beverly
Vivian
Alexis
Lindsay
Leslie
Shannon
Kelly
Tracy

Oh my god

do you want this child to commit suicide by the age of 15?
can you imagine how many times he will hear "hit me baby one more time" or "all the people look at me like i'm a little GIRL"? CHildren can be really nasty, and I think you really need to think about that, because they can make of another kid's life a living hell.
i think that chelsea sounds really girly. I didn't even know that it was a unisex name.

here are a few suggestions
Ariel
Angel
Alexis
Blaine
Brett
Cameron
Cecil
Casey
Cassidy
Dakota
Daryl
Evan
Hayley
Hayden
Hadley
Jamie
Jude
Kelly
Kennedy
Leslie
Lee
MAcKenzie
Michael
Morgan
Noel
Paris
Quinn
Reese
Riley
Robin
Regan
Ryan
Sydney
Taylor
Tyler
Tory
Whitney
Zane

A little risky

Both names to me sound a little rsiky. I would go for something a little more common unisex such as Christian, Kimberly or Alexis
but if i had to pick I would say..Brooklyn. I like that one. The other names are a bit to feminine.

I don't agree

Hello,

My husband was named Kristen and although this is also considered a unisex name he has had certain troubles over the years. When he first started secondary school the class went to France for the day and he was put into the girls group because of his name, can you imagine being surrounded by girls at the age of 11, it did not go down too well. Also people also assume that they must have heard it incorrectly and he gets called everything from Christian to Kirstin.

About middle names, if you decide to go for a unisex first name I think it is best to stick with a masculine second name, it helps people know that it is infact a boy/man they are speaking to.

Never used

but middle names are never used !
They are just on the birth certificate etc but you never get called by your first and midle name so it wouldn't help at all to have a very masculin middle name.

No !

I think both of these names would immediately make people think of girls. The problem is that people tend to identify with who they know. What i mean is with a name like Britney you would immediately think of Britney Spears and she's not the best reference to go by ! Even though some names are unisex some are more associated to girls or boys than others.
Chelsea really doesn't come across a boy's name. You must think of the present trend. I thought of Bill Clinton's daughter.
I get the impression you are American, am I right ?
Madison and Ashley are a little more acceptable for boys if you see what I mean.
good luck in your choice, after all it's down to you.
Wouldn't other children make fun of them at school etc ?
julie

Omg

I am sorry but you asked for opinions, and here it goes,

THAT IS JUST MEAN!!! Your going to subject your sons to torture b/c your tryng to make some kind of unisex point! I am sorry but those are girls names and these boys will be teased so badly
Find a unisex name that is more on the masuline side.
My daughters name is unisex but I find it girly , so I understand where you are coming from but it is harder for boys with inisex names than it is for girls, this may seem unfair but its the way it is.
Here are some more unisex names

Jordan
Kennedy
Waverly
Avery
Sydney
Rylie
Devin

PLEASE DO NOT NAME THIS BOY BRITNEY!!!
