Dear all,

Could you please tell me what either you would shorten the name Amelie to or what you think other people might shorten it to.

Many thanks for your help - it is helping us to decide whether to use it or not

Thats a nice name other way it could be shortened is to millie but as the other ladies said if you dont want it shortened just correct people, my 2nd daughter is called Sophia and my fathers side refuse to call her that and call her sophie instead which annoys me so myself and my eldest daughter seem to spend our entire time with them correcting them!

That's our number 2 name on our list. Nick likes tennis and theres a tennis female player with that name, so i am actually wondering why he picked it. Apart from the ones the other ladies said, i cant think of any other ones. You could just tell folk that thats her name and you dont want them to shorten it. Thats what we will be doing and we will repeat saying this til they get use to calling her the right name.

I think that telling people we do not want her name shortened is probably the best route at the moment..... I cannot think of a shortened version that I actually like but it seems that people are generally unable to call people by their proper name.

My name is Holly and even i get called Hole. Anyway! Thanks again and i wish you all the best of luck with your pregnancies.

If there are anymore thoughts on the subject do let me know

Take care all!

I think of French people .. romance, long dark dark hair and bicycles in a paved street.

hehe .. I think it is beautiful.

If it was to be shortned I think people would go for Amy Or Ame's

Love to you and the little girl. x

I also like Amelie for a girl and I wondered the same thing, I actually thought it could be shorted to Amy (although its different thats just what came into my head)
