Hi,

I am 6 months pregnant and trying to decide what to name my baby girl. I really like Anika/Annika which I understand has a Scandinavian background. I am from Australia so I would really love to hear from anyone from any of the Scandinavian countries to know how the name Anika/Annika is thought of there. As a name would it be considered too common or a bit different, old fashioned or cool?

Hope to hear from you soon!

I don't live in a scandinavian country, I'm from Germany. Since the end of the 70's the name Annika is very popular in Germany. I think it's because of the book "Pippi Longstocking". In the German translation there is a girl named Annika and so the name became popular. In the name-ranking of the year 2007 Annika has been on place 33.
I like the name very much. Also I like many scandinavian names.
