| Thread started by: | "Sma or cow & gate?? help" Posted by babygirlhall 8 November at 12:17
Hi, My son is 4 months and is currently having SMA white for hungry babies but honestly it does not work! He is still wanting to be fed every 2-3 hours. He is hungry all day and still wakes during the night about 5-6 times and takes ages to settle. He weighs 14lb 11oz. When he was first born he was on SMA gold. I have recently tried cow & gate comfort which did fill him up more but really upset his stomach and also gave him quite a bit of reflux (he has never been a sicky baby). I was wondering if there was anyone who had put their baby on SMA progress before 6 months? Or if any one has changed from SMA to cow & gate (or vice versa) and found one milk to be better than the other? Any comments welcome, really struggling!
Please help!

how are you getting on with joshua now? my son was exactly the same, always hungry and waking up a lot. i asked the health visitor about changing to a stronger milk and she advised me not to.
it got to the stage where i was tearing my hair out so i tried him with baby rice at night time and it really helped. he had a feed about 7(with rice) and then again at midnight(regular as clockwork) and that was him till 7, 7.30ish in the morning. he was like that till 8 months and now he sleeps from 7 till 7(hes 18 mnths now).
i find it a bit strange that the 'rules' change all the time. my daughter is 4 and i could feed her solids at 4 mnths?!?
anyway, sorry for rabbiting on a bit. hope this helps

Hi, Joshua is getting on much better now but only because i decided to start giving him solids. I could not take it any more, always crying because he was hungry! He now has baby rice in his milk (1 spoon) 3 times a day and the other two feeds he has either creamy porridge or a farley mixed with milk (from a spoon) and he loves it! He is happier and more content. He still wakes at night but not as much, i think thats because he has got into a pattern of waking and hopefully will grow out of it soon. Thanks for your reply, it always helps to hear from other mums.
