Yesterday evening i decided to give my baby rice for the first time, just a couple of spoonfuls as he is starting to lick his lips when he smells our food and he grizzles. When he had the second spoonful he screwed his face up and cried, but when i let him suck a dried apricot he loved it and got bits of it off by sucking.
I was going to start him on baby rice but only a couple of spoonfuls in the evening (6pm) each day to start with. Can i skip the baby rice and give him a couple of spoonfuls of jar baby food? Im sure he wants something to taste rather than his milk all the time

Sorry for the essay

x

"Baby food"

hi, i think i used rice for about 2 days, then gave him a fruity yoghurt breakfast thing that came in the bounty pack, and he loved it. All the jars say from 4 months, so i give him that stuff now, he much prefers it.
Midwives, health visitors all say certain things, but you know your own baby better than anyone, so go with what you think best. my son is 5 months now and loves his food. a small jar lasts him 3 days.
"Thanks.."

for your reply )

i bought a small jar to try him on earlier.. he only had 4 weaning spoonfuls, is that ok? he then wouldnt take anymore of it but drank 4ozs of milk straight after?

Thanks again

yeah thats fine. the one thing i was told though, was give him his milk first. Its important he gets his milk, and food after. Otherwise he might get full up on the food then not want his milk.
